We took our daughter and her husband for his 50th. birthday treat before they went off on holiday and we all agreed it was a fantastic meal. Our other daughter was also with us and commented on how friendly the staff were and how fab the food was. Congratulations yet again to all the staff and especially the chef !!

Another exceptional meal last evening.....just my wife and I on this occasion, but, as always, the food was wonderful - authentic, unpretentious and scrumptious! The staff too were faultless - as charming and courteous as ever (they have a clever knack of making all guests feel special and most welcome....a most heartening aspect of their craft!). Visited Mamma Italia with a large group for a birthday in the family, was greeted at the door by friendly staff who took no time to order and bring drinks. Food came quickly and was delicious! Great atmosphere and a lovely place for friends, family and couples.

We turned up for an early meal and they fit us in "if we could eat in half an hour". We did !! Fabulous hot food, cooked quickly and served with a smile :) Definitely go there if you are looking for REAL Italian food.

Visited twice during December with groups of 8/9 people. All meals were excellent in quality and great value. Staff very good, choice very good. Hope the new brasserie area takes off. Good luck.

Second time I've been - we went for a big family meal just before Christmas. Food was very good: fairly simple menu, buy a fairly simple done well just like you get in Italy. We live local, and this is our favourite restaurant in Sunderland. Food is top notch, prices are very reasonable, the atmosphere is always excellent. They have taken a section of the bar area now as a bistro, playing live jazz, wonderful new addition to ashbrooke, its a must visit if you've never been.
