Had lunch here during the summer with a friend and would love to return for an evening meal. Fantastic selection of starters and mains on the lunch menu. Really enjoyed the duck liver paté starter! I was surprised to find the place empty apart from two tables as the food was really good. However, it was a little pricey (for... More

We stumbled upon The Buttery in Feb. 2011 and had such a fantastic experience that we brought family with us for a repeat vist in April 2012. It's been our favorite meal in Ireland each trip. They take staples like brown bread and sticky toffee pudding to a new level and have fantastic entrees. My husband adores the duck. The... More

When we arrived for dinner, around 6 PM, my husband and I were the only diners, until we were about finished, and another group came in. Our server was Sinead, who did an adequate job, and seemed to the be the only one working, but she wasn't overly friendly or happy. Food was good. I had the steak dinner. Nice... More

A lot of locals eat here, including me. I generally stop for lunch whilst passing through Cashel. The buttery is in the vaulted basement of the Cashel Palace Hotel, (formally the Bishop's palace or house, hence the name of the buttery). Excellent bistro type food. The space is small and there a few tables, so dont bring a big crowd.... More

I visited this Restaurant, situated in the basement of the Cashel Palace Hotel in the fall of 2009, along with a work colleague. While it was a little cool in the cellar, the atmosphere itself was good. For mains, I had steak, and my companion had pork. While my steak was reasonable, the pork was very disappointing, especially at the... More

The three course meal was very good : high quality food, not terribly imaginative but perfectly acceptable. I thought the price was too high for what we got. Good service. Restaurant itself was dull and not very atmospheric.

The food was good, but the place didn't really live up to what we were expecting for the price. The Food was also fairly slow to arrive. After discussing it later, it may have been an off-night - maybe we were just unlucky.
