Ivans Oyster Bar and Grill was buzzing when we had a lunch time meal here in Howth in May 2012 - a lovely bright and contemporary designed restaurant in a beautiful spot next to Howth Harbour. The food was excellent although a bit pricey - due to its very popular location and good reputation no doubt. The service matched the... More

We had a family occasion on Satuday for 25 adults and 9 children in Ivans Restaurant and it was excellent. The food and attention to detail was superb! We found the staff so friendly and welcoming (even with 9 children!) and I simply couldn't fault any part of our experience. One thing is for sure, we will be back along... More

On a beautiful sunny day in Howth, we started with Clarinbridge oysters and a pot of steamed mussels and then ordered some specials from the blackboard: turbot and sea bream. While we were looking at the menu the waitress suggested her favourite wine, a sauvignon blanc. It was just as good as she said; even better, it was the house... More

It never ceases to amaze me how a restaurant that specialises in fish and has a chain of fish & chip shops in it's portfolio cant cook chips in it's up market restaurant.... the restaurant was not busy and an order of chilli prawns which was only notable by its lack of chilli and it was offered up with greasy... we had an excellent meal in this very smart restaurant. the food was superb - top class ingredients cooked to perfection. nice atmosphere and staff were friendly and attentive. can't comment on any of the other restaurants on the quayside but you wouldn't got wrong choosing this one.

No empathy when dealing with complaint, just overly defensive

Ivans used to have great food and great service, it was pricey but worth it. The last few times service has been very slow and the food has been a let down. Still optimistic I ordered the Linguine. It was revolting, the linguine tasted of butter and nothing else, I had to return it.

We ate on stools in the 'market area' of Ivans. My oysters were excellent, as were my wife's Gambas. The Muscadet was 'to die for' with the fish. Slightly pricey, but hey a great experience. And Wales won the next day! Great weekend

Went with friends to supposedly good quality oysters, got a terrible food poisoning the day after and that for over 80 pp bill and a manager who is to proud to appoligise. Don't go there, spend a min walking bit further to find something more worth your health and money..
