I know, it's the Ritz - you get pay for that. A lot. Well, the quality and service were excellent, but the stratospheric prices are a downer.
Just because Kai is in the Ritz-Carlton and the prices are high, it does not mean that it is the best restaurant for sushi in Kapalua. While the presentation and service we received were flawless, we felt that the food quality did not match the inflated prices. A better bet for sushi in Kapalua is Sansei.
We ate at Kaz several nights while in Maui and found the sushi very fresh and very well presented. Strongly recommend the Poke and everything that has Tuna, the quality of the tuna is just amazing and it melts in your mouth. The service that we experienced was great, specially from Rogelio, he was wonderful and so friendly. There is... More
My wife and I just celebrated our 12th wedding anniversary. If you are looking for a Nice place to have dinner you will not be disappointed, Rogelio let us in on one of his favorite dishes Hamache Jalapeno. He is still the nicest guy we have met so far. We will be back.
The sushi at Kai was exceptional. Our server was knowledgeable of their menu.Their hostess Cheryl was friendly, very helpful and accommodating. Rogelio the person who kept clearing our dishes was also very friendly. They made us feel at home.
When Sensei Sushi is so close by (we should have listened to the reviews!!!)... Kai is way overpriced (e.g., a tuna special roll for $20 that was tiny) for what you get... The restaurant offers a good selection of beverages, including a variety of excellent saké. Prices are on the expensive side, but worth every penny.
Kai at the Ritz Carlton hotel is our more favorite sushi option these days over Sensai. We make a reservation and have enjoyed about a half dozen meals this year there. The plus if you have kids or a family member that doesn't like Japanese food is that they will let you have an item off the bar menu across... More
