It has moved down the street to a new premises, at 41 Hall Street. Visited only last week and the food is still good. It is still very popular and booking is essential. It has 2 levels with the upper level for formal dining. Service can be better as it is full, but the food is well worth the visit.

This restaurant serves great japanese food. The sushi is always fresh! The location is quiet small so there isn't a lot of tables so isn't ideal for largest groups, they take reservations so make sure you have to get in quick especially on weekends. They also do take away so perfect if you want to enjoy some nice japanese food... More

Unbelievable value for money it has all the well known Japanese speciality dishes. The wooden boat laden with sushi & sashimi is to die for.

We used to walk past Chiba on our way to another restaurant and it's always full so thought we'd give it a try. To be honest it was good, but not fabulous, so I'm still at a loss to work out what all the fuss is about

I have eaten here a few times and the food is very fresh and tasty, and the service is great. Chiba is my favorite place to get take away sushi platters. They are a bit more expensive than some places but it's worth it for the quality and freshness.

Still love this place, local and great food. A tad loud last night but that is hardly the restaurant's fault!

This is a favorite for locals, and don't be fooled you will need a booking most nights of the week. We went on a Tuesday and watched them turn away at least 6 couples. The food here is fresh, fresh, fresh. It is not fancy, but traditional home cooked Japanese style. BYO is available and they have great Japanese beers cold... More

The food here is good but the one very big negative for me is the popularity of the restaurant has meant that they are always packed out and they have added a few more tables than they have space for. It is now too cramped in there and you get that clautophobic feeling which is not helped by all the... More

A very good variety of very good food. Sufficent wine menu. Would love to see a variety of choice for saki though! The menu caters extremely well for those who 'don't like raw fish', right thru to the die hard lovers of sashimi! Good service, pleasant decor. The REAL DEAL here - Japanese chef & staff here. Consistently, reliably very... More

We had the most delicious Japanese meal in around 2 hours. Situated in a very simple yet attractive traditional style retaurant, we indulged ourselves in a variety of mixed Japanese delicacies that included sushi & sushemi. All fresh and very yummy. The place was ideal for our kids, they could choose more simple foods like sizzling chicken on sticks or... More
