Like many things in Canberra this restaurant is about 25 minutes from the City. We got ourselves lost and arrived on a very busy Saturday afternoon about 25 minutes late. We honestly expected our table to have been given away (after all business is business), but were delighted when the waiter never even bothered about our horrendous timekeeping. Things just... More

My husband and I took a good friend from the US to Poachers Pantry today to show her how good the restaurant scene in Canberra can be. What a disappointment - the food and service were mediocre, the noise level in the restaurant was very annoying, to say the least - we could barely hear each other. The food took... More

We had been eating and drinking our way through Canberra(in between gallery, museum visits) and thought we would try this place for a light lunch.Poachers Pantry is situated at Hall in ACT it's a pleasant 20-25min drive from the CBD. From the moment you enter any stress just disappears and you are made welcome by all staff. Its a quaint... More

These guys have worked hard at building a retardant good enough to draw people away from tyre city. It is hard to get in for a reason, the food is beautiful, service friendly and overall a relaxing, enjoyable experience. Booked in again next weekend!

Poacher’s Pantry is a nice easy drive from Canberra (less than 30 min from Civic). However, watch the long driveway entrance for deep pot-holes, as they nearly took out the right front CV boot in our car. The Smokehouse Café is in a nice location, and it’s worth having a look around. There are some good sculpture pieces on the... More

My partner and I booked this restaurant online two days before Australia Day, and were pleased to have our reservation personally confirmed by email the day before we went. After spending the morning touring the wineries of the Hall region, we were very hungry and eager to continue our decadent day experience. The drive to the property is an experience... More

This business has been nurtured having been grown in stages from the initial smokehouse that had been established back in 1991 with the aim of producing restaurant quality smoked goods that would be revered by home cooks and chefs alike. The growth has clearly been managed with the site now hosting a "Cafe" that is solidly booked and deservedly so.... More

We had lunch here today and have nothing but good things to say about it. The food was great, service friendly and the location just perfect. Must have the smoked meats platter here. Desserts can be (should be) avoided, as not that great. Good selection of teas as well. They sell the smoked meats here for you to take home... More

In the developing wine-growing area around Canberra, a short drive to a beautiful country setting and excellent food, service was first class, and after we ate we chose from a large range of local produce such as relishes, as well as smoked meats and the local wines. Highly recommended for a visit, but also recommended you book first as it... More
