The whole pub is really nice. The building, the staff there and of course the food. They have a nice bar area with a log fire on cold days with some comfy sofas in front of it, as well as plenty of tables to sit at. Alternatively you can sit in the restaurant part itself which has some nice views... More

May Bank Holiday Sunday Lunch. Had booked a table for the four of us the week before. Walked in, nice welcome, got our drinks and then taken to our table. Typical Sunday dinner for us all, followed by a tasty sweet and coffees. Very reasonable price and no complaints over service. All the staff that we came into contact with... More

We only had lunch here, so giving it just 4 stars. If the evening meal and rooms are as good as last time we stayed here for a weekend (some 28 years ago!), it may well get to be a 5 star. We sat outside on a warm sunny day and the views across the valley were amazing. The staff... More

Fantastic beer, fantastic food, extremely friendly helpful staff. We enjoyed our meals so much we went back the next evening. This pub has a great restaurant but also nice comfy sofas to enjoy a drink after a long hike. Great views across the dale too.

We were heading back from a visit to the North Yorkshire Steam Railway and decided to stop here after reading previous reviews. We were not disappointed. The views in the area were amazing. the Inn itself was warm & cosy after a day in the rain. The staff made us very welcome and found us a table. We thoroughly enjoyed... More

After reviewing on trip advisor decided to give it a go. Unfortunately their website doesn't show any menu. On entering there was an open log fire and a friendly welcome from two hosts. The menu was simple with a selection food but not too much and all reasonably priced. Garlic mushrooms to start (£4.50) well worth it as possibly the... More

We stayed at cottages within walking distance so this was our local, what a wonderful super friendly landlady and the atmosphere in the pub, roaring log fire and superb food made for a fantastic long weekend away.

Excellent local made game pate. Good locally shot pheasant. If you stay at the hotel, you have no need to consider eating elsewhere. No dislikes.
