Description: Country house hotels dont come much more charismatic than Glewstone Court, surrounded by fruit orchards in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty ten minutes from Ross-On-Wye. With its plump sofas, preppy pea-green accents, Persian rugs and elegant framed pictures the Glewstone Court Country House Restaurant has a loveable, lived-in splendour and is loved by guests and locals for its award-winning Anglo-French menu. The kitchen promotes local farmers where possible and the menu here is an epicurious delight. Dont miss the smoked salmon and fresh mango salad with a soy, lime and fresh ginger dressing; the breast of Gressingham duck with spice poached plums and a cassis jus; and the brioche bread and butter pudding with caramelised Glewstone apples and Hereford honey.

A warm welcome greeted us followed by a relaxed drink in a comfortable lounge with gorgeous nibbles whilst pouring over a lovely menu of locally produced food. the food didn't disappoint, cooked to perfection and exactly as requested with great service and a lovely family feel to the point that as we retired back to the lounge for coffee, the... We took guests to Glewstone for dinner, this is a really comfortable country house hotel, deep settees, log fires, and very good food. Our friends, two of whom live in France, were very impressed with the food as this hotel. The staff were attentive and friendly and we had a superb evening. The lamb was exceptionally good, cooked as each... More

We arrived early and set up camp in front of the fire with the Sunday papers, a bottle of wine and a plate of delicious crudite - excellent - just what a great British Sunday should be! There was no attempt to rush us despite the fact that they were about to become very busy, menus were left for us... More

We booked an evening meal for 15 people (and one baby in a push chair) within about 8 days notice. At no stage did this appear to be a problem. On arrival, we had a pre-dinner drink in the bar (a lovely room) and placed our orders with mein host. He is a real character, but definitely in control, whilst... More

A family birthday dinner for five of a senior level ( over 50 anyway) on a Monday night - I have been to quite a number of places when staying in Ross and this was certainly the most enjoyable, by a distance. It is a country house hotel but almost not an hotel and it has the atmosphere of an... More

Visited this lovely old hotel on Sunday for lunch. When booking I had informed the receptionist that time was rather limited because of a certain Rugby match which was very much required viewing.Upon arrival we were greeted by Bill a very amiable "mine host" who took our coats and ushered us into a very comfortable bar where a welcoming log fire... Bill Reeve Tucker and his team have never let me down. Glewstone has all the feel of a rather comfy thirties country house party. Dogs, deep sofas, friendly welcomes and super food. Over the years I have taken family, friends and professional associates to the place and invariably they've come away charmed by the experience. There is little not to... More
