Nice atmospheric place, in a wonderful setting. Inside it is a bit dark & dreary and tired looking. Food is well cooked but very tiny portions at a very high price. A restaurant that aims to impress.

Again what a lovely stop over for lunch on our way down to St Ives. Warm welcome from friendly staff, excellent food in beautiful surrounding with first class service. For us it is great value and a must do start to our holidays. Can't wait to return soon ;-)
This is high quality dining at its best. It sits well compared to Gidleigh, Endsleigh and the Arundel Arms.
A short menu but very well presented, excellent local flovours abound. Well balanced and excellent value, 2 courses £19.50. We have been charged £18.5 for a single course at a pub before now.

The good news is that the Murray family are back! James and Sue know how to run this hotel and they are giving excellent advice to their son Duncan and his wife. We had a superb lunch, exceptionally good value, and much better quality than their local competition. The amuse bouche was particularly tasty. Their new chef had not started...

Came here for my mums 70th with a Travel Zoo voucher to the purple carrot restaurant. 7 courses of pure bliss! The food & whole experience was fantastic. We later saw chef Steve Barringer on master chef final. Fantastic experience in a lovely location.

Taken into the restaurant and settled at a table close to the log fire, the menu presented a series of delicious course options...

Having just got back from lunch here, I just had to write a review!! Stunning stunning stunning. Two courses of the best food I have had in a very long time. Incredible value at £15 for two courses as they are raising money for the local childrens hospice (envelopes left on the table for donations). The amuse bouche, the bread...

A country-house hotel that makes non-resident diners feel really welcome. The set menu (£19 for 3 courses at lunch) offers only a few choices, but everything is superbly executed, and intensely flavoursome. It’s “off the beaten track” between Okehampton and Tavistock, but well worth a detour.
I even found lead shot in the partridge (on my plate) which shows you its local wild birds. It didnt spoil the food but added to the authenticity
