Billed as serving "the best soup in Reykjavik" and although my girlfriend and I didn't sample every soup in the city we can definitely believe it's true! We arrived on Ascension day (bank holiday) which would explain why the place wasn't bustling with customers but the service was excellent, the soup served in bread was delicious and when the bill... Great little place - food is VERY good and very reasonably priced. Once you start talking to the workers, they can be quite friendly, but initially they are very cold. But I guess that's fitting up here - as most of the customers also seem very unfriendly! Just where DID Americans' get this reputation? Anyway - the soup was pretty... More

This is a very popular little cafe on one of the main shopping streets in Reykjavik. The first time we went we just had drinks but we were amazed at how many people were eating soup in bread. We went back the next day and had spicy vegetable and meat soup which was delicious. I can't remember exactly how much... More

A real winner with our family. The soup served in beautiful freshly baked bread was filling and tasty for our family of non meat eaters. Good value and filled us up well. 1550 ISK for the soup in a large bread roll. We ate here twice having Asian Vegetable soup one meal and Cauliflower and Vegetable Soup on the second.... More

It's not the best place for coffee or drinks in Inceland, but if you fancy a cheap warm food, go for the Mushroom soup in the bread. It's really good. Iceland is pretty expensive in terms of food and Svarta Kaffi was a good option for my budget trip.

The serve a "house special" course which is soup in bread, the flavour varies and it consist of a bread-bowl with soup and I belive you can get a refill on that. On evenings it is a cozy cafe til sit down in with friends and have drinks. It's easy to forget yourself in looking at the life on Laugavegur... More

We came by this place and tried the soup in bread. I believe it's not typical icelandic. It's a good idea and it tasted good, but my friend had a chicken salad, and it didn't look nice..It's an average bar, wouldn't go back...

We were enticed by the signs for Guinness and soup in the bread bowl. We found both inside and weren't disappointed. One bowl fed three of us for a late afternoon snack. I must admit that the "blackface" decor on the building and sign was somewhat offensive, but I'm guessIng there's some history to it, as it seems out of... More

We were told of this place and their novel soups. We were not disappointed either, the soups change daily. The soup comes in a big bread roll (if you can call it a roll being so big), you soon find a way to devour it by you working your way down from the top.The soup was gorgeous and so was... More
