Warm friendly welcome. Lovely decor. Very quiet when we first arrived but soon filled up. Lots of the diners were regulars because the staff obviously knew them so if people return, that is a good recommendation. The food was good but the veggies were overcooked which spoiled it a bit. Not sure if we would return because with nearly 300... More

We dined here on the recommendations of other Tripadvisor reviews, but we agree with those few diners who were critical. We do not think that our meal was worth five points out of five. Although the staff were friendly and we were offered a complimentary glass of madeira before the meal, the standard of cuisine was poor and we agree... More

This you must try! We had to twice in 4 days! We just wanted a light dinner some place, and were met with a nice relaxed smile and a invitation on the street when we passed by, got a great service and the nicest sandwich. The people there was so nice and we had a great evening! We said we... More

Restaurant is a short walk uphill from Cliff Bay where we were staying. Walk past some big, and to my mind annonymous, dining halls to this little local restaurant. We were greeted warmly and made to feel very welcome. Delicious local food at very good prices. Waiter recommended a wine for 18.50 and it was great. Portions were almost too... More

We ate here a couple of times. My wife liked their version of Scabbard fish. I had their salt cod both times. The food was good average fair and the staff were very helpful, offering to change the standard accompaniments to whatever else we wanted, which was nice.

Outstanding food, wine and service. The set menu (E12.50) is extraordinarily good value and on the day we went there included grilled limpets and espetada. There is an extensive (all Portuguese) wine list covering a large price range. I asked the waiter to recommend a full-bodied red and his choice (E18.60) was perfect with the espetada.

We enjoyed 2 meals here, it was a good local find not far from the hotel. Good helpful staff that offered a glass of Madeira wine on arriva and a nice informal atmospherel.I would recommend the grilled Limpets.
