It's a great atmosphere, as it's the old palace kitchen and on one evening a harpist was playing, but the food was a disappointment. Either too salty, or bland. The desserts are good, though.

We stayed four nights at the pousada and ate at the restaurant twice. The setting is atmospheric and well set out, making a feature of the massive original chimney. Service by the Maitre d' was excellent and he spoke excellent English. He also suggested a couple of places in Lisbon to buy Portuguese wines. Whilst there were very few people...

The appertisers were simple, regional and delicious. The chateaubriand was perfect. Served at the table by professional waitress (Sara). Wine, selected by the winewaiter, was excellent. Everything about this restaurant was professional, from...

Made the reservation for 21:30 but arrived...
