This was recommended in an old guide book and we happened to come across it on a wet windy lunch time. The roaring fire was totally welcome, service was good. This is apparently a long standing reputable café which is associated with the chocolate shop across the road. The chocolates were to die for as was the coffee and hot... More

I only tasted their hot chocolate. I am not an expert on hot chocolate. But it was hot. It was delicious. And it was VERY chocolatly!

We went to De Proeverie in 2007 having read that it was the best place for a hot chocolate in Bruges. We weren't disappointed. So six years later we decided to go back..... ...and something was different. Fortunately I had taken a picture six years previously! Just do the comparison - no longer is it the sumptuous tray of chocolate... More

Stopped by to sample the hot chocolate on a cold and wet May day! The milk was hot and the liquid dark chocolate delicious, especially next to a roaring fire. Yet the accompanying chocolates, made in the shop over the road were disappointing. Service was efficient, but not particularly welcoming.

We tried a few pastries and their hot chocolate. Everything tasted and looked very good. The accompanying chocolates were great too. We were seated quite fast and got our order quickly too. But somehow, there was no "Happy" there. Its hard to explain. The staff was not friendly. It was full of tourists. Sort of a get in, eat and... More

We had walked past this little tea shop a couple of times, but as it was a little chilly we went in for hot chocolate. It was a self assemble affair - but it was incredible. Cup of warm milk, generous pot of the most gorgeous melted chocolate, whipped cream and selection of complimentary chocolates. It was to die for.... More

When we sat down we remembered it was the cafe we visited on our previous visit to Bruges a few years earlier. On that occasion there was a sign outside claiming the best hot chocolate in Bruges. It is a great place for coffee and sweets and you get some complimentary chocolates as well.

On a very cold April day we called for a hot chocolate. We where greated by friendly staff and a gorgeous roaring real fire. Our order of hot choc, scone and cream and jam for my husband and chocolate cake for me arrived very quickly even though the place was quite full. The hot choc came in 3 parts, cup... More

Have frequented this cafe on each of three visits to Bruges just for the hot chocolate! The apple cake is delicious, as is the chocolate cake - you get two big slices in a portion. It's always busy but the service is quick, friendly and efficient.

We enjoyed our chocolate drink with chocolates and a lemon cheese cake. The sugar rush kept us going all afternoon! Very busy but worth the wait.
