Description: Respect and simplicity are the bywords of Jaloa, a modern French restaurant right on Brussels Place Sainte Catherine . Its near the Central train station, so you should give in to temptation and make this your first stop when you take the train in from the airport. Founded and run with passion and energy by chefs Gaetan Colin and Michel Robert, Jaloa is both smart and casual. The multi-level dining room is furnished with schoolroom-type chairs, scrubbed wood tables, brilliant modern paintings, and smart table settings. A private room seats intimate groups up to 16 diners, and hiring the entire restaurant makes parties up to 55 possible. Originally a wine bar, Jaloas wine list is as French as can be, and roams broadly through the regions. The menu is Mediterranean-inflected French with seasonal dishes. Try starter of carpaccio of beefheart tomatoes with rocket, main course of roasted turbotin with mixed mini-veg and creamed 30-year-old parmesan, and dessert of crme brle made with Madagascan vanilla.

Our family(6 people) visited this restaurant for my birthday. It was the first time we were there and we enjoyed it so much. Very friendly waiters, good food. We sat on our own in a separate place. Great!!! More

So first of all be sure that you have the right Jaloa restaurant. There is a Brasserie and a fine dine one star Michelin restaurant which is this one. We accidentally walked into the Brasserie but the other restaurant is just five minutes walking away. Our reservation was made through the reception from our hotel but it when we showed... More

Jaloa I would define as a fine food restaurant, it is very traditional in most senses, excellent quality food, presented in a pleasing way with the level of service you'd expect to accompany the price. More

Great service and fantastic food made our visit a brilliant experience for a teenager on her first visit to Brussels. Sophisticated service but not pretentious and very reasonable cost for the quality (65 Euros for two, including a cocktail and a glass of house wine). Merci beacoup et a bientot! More

Was there for dinner with friends who were looking for the sea food. Ordered steak, and it turned out to be a big mistake. Hard and fat. Can't even imagine from which part of the animal this steak was cut. The fish soup was reasonable, but I expected something more special. For the "desert", our request to split the bill... More

My most disappointing restaurant meal in Brussels in 20 years. I ordered a grilled sole which looked like it had died by being left out to shrivel in the sun for a couple of weeks. My friend ordered a whole crab which came with no dressed white meat in the middle and no utensils to crack the claws. When we... More

We ate here during restaurant week. They offered a fixed menu of a fish apetizer (can't remember the name), a main of cod and braised beef with a piece of foie gras and dessert was a chocolate brownie with chocolate mousse/ice cream with lavender soup. The food was of good quality, but I didn't have the "wow factor". The cod... More

I have been to this restaurant to eat some fish in a warm evening. The restaurant is located near Place St Catherine and so it is easy accessible by metro. Anyway, we arrived by car and we spent several tie before finding a place. We had a reservation so we were seated immediately. The quality of food is quite good... More
