Does the job and certainly packs them in but not a patch on its famous Parisian namesake in terms of style and atmosphere. Definitely worth a trip when in need an oyster fix.
Every visit to Geneva, we make a point of making a reservation at Brasserie LIPP. The restaurant is centrally located and within walking distance of all major hotels in the area, either side of the river. The positives in this restaurant are good energy, service and great quality food. There is an extensive wine list covering all regions of France.... More
Very expensive... but that is Geneva for you! It can be a difficult place to find as it is located upstairs in the middle of a shopping mall! When we arrived at the time we had booked for we waited about 5 minutes before they tried to put us in the plastic covered terrace area.. but when we booked we... More
We visited this restaurant on a Monday evening and it was full. That says it all, as service was excellent, food amazing. Price wise a little high but quality and quantity were there. Deserts were also great, a place to recommend. I wish we could find more restaurants with these high standards in Geneva.
Had a great lunch there. My Dad and I ordered fantastic oysters (Les perles blanches), followed by a sole meuniere. (This is a typical French brasserie, which should be of great interest for GVA visitors). This place is an institution. Booking is a prerequisite. Note that your average check can easily reach 60-65 Chf. (Non including wine & tips).
A group of us dined at Lipp - good food and wine , professional service , buzzy atmosphere . the only issue we had was the table felt crowded and we were close to other diners . can recommend the oysters , snails , etc as starters . The desserts tried were excellent . Geneva prices so rather high !... More
This fine dining restaurant is located inside a commercial building on its upper floor with a very small sign outside along rue Confederation. It is hard to find as one ascends the escalator , then rides the elevator another floor up . However , it was worth the search . It serves very fresh , plump raw oysters. The sole... More
I have been to Lipp twice, once on an evening meal with my partner, which was really nice, the food was really good, service was great, great atmosphere for a date, although really busy. Second time I ate at Lipp was during lunch time with my parents. The service was terrible, food choice was rather limited. All in all, Lipp... More
This restaurant has decent French cooking which follows the seasons. I had joue de sanglier (cheek of wild boar) the wife had tête de veau and the cooking is good. Like I wonna come back. Not the cheapest place in town. McDonald's available for the plebs.
A famous name and top level which is fully legitimate. First contact (we have made no reservation) was very agreable. A nice smile, 15 second to find a nice table on the terrace. Then the timing (bringing the menu, coming to get the order, deliver drinks, then the dishes) was perfect. As main dish, we took a Choucroute (sauerkraut) which... More
