My friend and her boss, who both live in Basel, took me to historic Chateau Lapin so I could try traditional Swiss food - rösti. It's a big potato pancake and you can have it various ways. I ordered mine with liver and really liked it. Dining in anywhere in Switzerland is expensive anyway you cut it, so I won't... More

Seems to be one of the popular places in Basel with a long tradition, but I can't really figure out why, at least not outside the annual "Fasnacht". Reservation was forgotten, but we got a table anyway. Very limited choice in terms of food - maybe we got the small menu, as they told us we need to order quick... More

I was there one night with family and friends during BaselWorld 2012. We decided to go there because of its location. The restaurant itself is nothing special, no elegant atmosphere, no nice tablecloth and no nice tableware. The food is mainly roësti that they claim to be the best in Switzerland. Now, they may claim whatever they want but it... More

Rösti were very good, maybe slightly undercooked, but this is understandable given the very high demand. Service was fast but courteous and efficient. Salads with slices of liver were also very popular. Ambience is nice, warm and authentic, but would go for lunch rather than dinner. Would probably go back if in the area and in the mood for rösti.

This is a traditional Swiss restaurant with the Rösti that others are measured against! I would never order anything but the Rösti topped with cheese and egg. I recommend fasting for at least a day so that all can be consumed! Wonderful! I want some right now!

Nice atmosphere, good food - I had the house rosti which was VERY cheesy and had a fried egg on top. Yum. Reasonable prices too. Really enjoyed eating here.

We had eaten in other traditional places, and had been disappointed, but this place was great. Firstly, it was warm on a chilly Nov afternoon, and secondly, the service was quick, and friendly. The food was nice, (if you like rosti), and we definitely wished we'd discovered this restaurant earlier in our time in Basel.

If you don't like Rösti, stay away. This is a Rösti lovers paradise, serving more than a dozen different types, including vegetarian options. Good beer, nice friendly staff and cozy atmosphere make this one of my favourite eating places in Basel.

Nice place for a drink. They have blankets to allow you to sit outside in the fall.

The atmosphere of this place is very cozy. The food is ok but nothing great. It's the kind of place I would come back for a beer, but not for food. Had a bratwurst with rösti, it was ok, but nothing wow. The service was very good: nice and friendly people. The location is great, right in the middle of... More
