Very nice experience. As good as you could have expected based on the ratings. It is hard to find based with most GPS's POI's (secret is to continue driving onwards where it says to stop) and the staff is really nice (not all speak english but it nice to use gestures and smiles). More

This is a wonderful restaurant with great character and innovative combinations of ingredients, without being too pretentious. We were two people and went for the "Chef's menu", one with fish and one with meat dishes. We got four different starters, a first course of pasta and a second course of steak and fish filet. All the dishes had a special... More

After the sad demise of La Mora, I think this is the best restaurant in Lucca. Yes, you have to navigate carefully to find it in Pieve San Stefano but it is SO worth the drive. Charming welcome, helpful and attentive hosts, innovative delicious food - proudly and responsibly sourced by local farmers and producers, blazing log fire. We had... More

We found our way to the restaurant without any difficulty, through a huge September storm. (We got soaked just getting out of our car!) The restaurant's setting is great, with a warm welcome, comfortable dining room, and top quality service. We weren't really sure what to order and put our total trust in the staff to advise us. We had... More

The atmosphere is fab. At first you might think the waiter/owner has an off day but it all comes with the act. He and his wife (who does all the work and he likes to be the entertainer...) go out of their way to help you choose a good meal and an accompanying local wine. We had a lovely evening... More

We had a perfect family reunion in Lucca -- 3 generations and we could not have had a more wonderful time. We decided to cap off our stay with a perfect last supper so we ate at Vigna Ilaria. We picked this restaurant based on reviews from Trip Advisors. When we told our waiter (husband of the owner) that we... More

Let's start with this....i'm not a typical tourist,i'm often abroad, especially in France and Italy so i can tell what's really good and what's "OK". I think most of the people that came here never ate an "Excellent" Italian meal, otherwise they could not rate this one so good. In my opinion this restaurant was very very overrated....you expect a lot from... More

When i started with my first own restaurant, at that time my kitchen and my ethical philosophy were very difficult to propose. To propose and explain some products, to speak about the difference between farm fish and wild fish, between animals who do not see the light ( in their short lives, forced into cages) and animal from organic farm…it wasn’t... We stayed at the Locanda only one night, after a large meal with family in Liguria. So, we were not very hungry and asked for something light. We were served, in addition to excellent wines, amazingly exquisite salad of wild greens (you could travel there just for this), an assortment of delicious Italian cheeses, crisp onions, conserves, and fruits, and... Fantastic restaurant driven by the owners. We ate here two nights and it was very special. The food is of very good quality, even the salad is special. Never tasted such a special salad in my life (handpicked on the mountains). They have special dishes with organ meat and goat etc but also more "normal" things. Most items on the... More
