This was much better value and food than most places we have eaten so far. However, the people next to us said it was their worst meal so far....Restaurant made mistakes on bills for both tables (in their favour) but readily corrected when queried. More

I have been to Barbacani many times, in my opinion it cannot be beaten if you are looking for authentic venetian food, could nearly be a 'baccaro' but f course there are also more international items on the menu too... add to that the chance to literally eat over a nice quiet venetain canal (with passing boats and gondolas adding... We visited Ai Barbacani after seeing the many good reviews on TA, away from all the hustle and bustle and touristy places (thank God for iphones and google maps haha). A small and cozy restaurant with so much character. We were greeted by the lovely staff who seated us quickly and immediately gave us a glass of prosecco and basket... More

Amazing, amazing restaurant in Venice. Honestly, we were struggling a little to find a good place to have dinner in San Marco. We went on a long search for another restaurant here on TripAdvisor (we eventually find out, after Google Maps let us down two nights in a row, but it didn't look as good as we thought it would... This place is an hidden gem but it was next door to our hotel. Right beside a small canal, it's in a very peaceful location and as soon as you walk in you can feel the ambience, when you see locals eating here you know it's good. Had dinner here 3 nights out of 4, superb food and warm friendly... More

When in Italy we tried to stay away from the touristy areas for food. Although this place was close to San Marco it was sufficiently off the main road for us to consider it, and we didn't want to walk too far. We went in and the fireplace sold us, as simple as that is. It was really busy and... More

Staff were very friendly, but one word of warning, do not order 'fresh vegetables'. I actually witnessed the staff putting a plate of frozen vegetables in the microwave to cook! The rest of the meal was outstanding. More
