very good experience for dinner on May 10th. Food excellent, fresh, innovative and the service too match. one advise, if you sit out doors in the evening there are mosquitos, but this is no falt of Venissa, they are all over the island.

Venissa the restaurant is, indeed, superb, as most other reviewers have reported.
The simple, modern seafood so expertly prepared, the professional service and the fresh, contemporary building all make for wonderful meals.
However, Venissa is also a wonderful place to stay. There are just six rooms, all decorated simply and with impeccable taste, of varying sizes but all very comfortable,...

It's ironic that Venice's best restaurant isn't in the city but on the island of Mazzorbo, 50 minutes away by ferry, but it's true. We made a day of it and will never forget the experience, which exceeded our high expectations. Simply put, the food is divine. Prepared in an immaculate open kitchen, it is a gourmand's dream--local, wild, beautifully...

If you want to experience a Venetian restaurant that is not just like all the others, hop on a vaporetto to Burano, then walk across the little bridge to the island of Mazzorbo for lunch at Venissa. The food was fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented. A number of dishes are made with seafood from local waters. Servers were young and...

Smart restaurant in a beautiful setting, great reviews, we were expecting a wonderful experience. Unfortunately, the food was very poor. One of our party couldn't eat her fritto misto - she found it greasy and gritty. The manager explained that the "texture" was due to the polenta flour but we found it unpleasant. Three separate dishes (cappelletti pasta, raw sliced...

The meal at Venissa was one of our 3 best meals in Venice during a week long trip in September 2011. Beautiful grounds and patio, we walked in the long way through their garden and saw the tomatoes, eggplants, peppers, basil growing that we soon would be eating. The service was professional and smooth, the food was all well prepared...

We had a fantastic lunch at Venissa. The service was perfect, the food was top notch and very inventive. The bread was even good, which is rare in Venice. I had a lovely risotto and a piece of John Dory for my meal. The other 3 people with me had equally good food. The meals were all very simply prepared,...

I was looking for an exceptional restaurant to celebrate my husband´s birthday and having read various newspaper reviews on this restaurant, we decided to dine here. The service was impeccable and our very knowledgeable waiter helped with our meal and wine choice. As soft shelled crab (only harvested twice a year) had been caught that day we decided that these...

This really is an exceptional place to eat in Venice, where, after many visits it seems that good food can be hard to come by at times. The restaurant and adjacent rooms are set in a vineyard on the island of Mazzorbo which is attached to nearby Burano by a bridge. The buildings are tranquil and to sit outdoors and...
