Description: La Fenice restaurant is known in Venice as Taverna La Fenice, a name given by writer Gabriele dAnnunzio during the years of the First World War. Not many restaurants can make that claim. This charming, historic, romantic restaurant has stood beside the world-famous La Fenice opera house since 1907. Think ochre stucco, window boxes, fine Italian dining and superb Italian service in a traditional setting with fresh flowers, suffused light and a delightful terrace at the front of the restaurant surrounded by screens and plants. Even the presence of tour groups doesnt mar the professional service or the romantic atmosphere. Dishes include La Fenices own carpaccio, risotto with scampi and rocket, tagliatelle with cream sauce and wild mushrooms, and turbot roasted with potatoes and tomato sauce. The wine list matches the excellence of the carte.

This was a great spot if you did not want to venture afar some evening. Pricey. There are many spots nearby which had traditional-fare, at better prices. More

Wife and I had lunch at Taverna La Fenice while touring Venice in April. I ordered the fixed price lunch which was offered at 33 euros which is reasonable by Venice standards. My wife wasn't that hungry and ordered just a pasta dish for 12.50 euros. When the bill came, the restaurant demanded 33 euros for my wife's lunch claiming... More

I was in Venice with my boyfriend 2 weeks ago for a romantic getaway. We had a great dinner at Taverna La Fenice, especially for me as a vegetarian. In Italy it has not been easy finding vegetarian options, but here they offer a special vegetarian menu. I had asparagus with eggs and it was delicious and fresh. We ate... More

Really enjoyed this restaurant. Although described as a tavern, the setting is upscale rustic. Although I went with a large group, the service was excellent. There was not a need to ask for anything as all was in order. The asparagus lasagna was especially tasty. I was sorry it was my last day in Venice--would have come back! More

Expensive, adequate food-- typical Venice fare. I paid 13 euros for a dish that included just 4 vegetarian ravioli, each one about one inch x one inch. This was the "small dish". The large portion was double that at 26 euros and I hope it had more than 8 ravioli. Overpriced. Be warned that there is both a cover charge... More

Came here for lunch with a NY Met Museum group so can't really comment on the prices, but the food was excellent and the service was beyond reproach. Nice quiet intimate atmosphere. More

We thoroughly enjoyed an anniversary dinner at Taverna La Fenice, trying some of the most innovative dishes, including the squid ink and cuttlefish with foamy potato -- sounds strange but they were absolutely delicious. Excellent, attentive service and deserving of the Michelin star. Located next to the opera, on a quiet street. More

Having read the previous tripadvisor comments, I couldn't disagree more. We spotted this place by chance on the way back from an evening at the opera. Yes, the menu and prices are clearly displayed outside, but what is missing is the definition of small portion. Small means miniscule! What an absolute rip off for what you get. I didn't think... My husband and I ate at this restaurant after it was recommended by our hotel. We were very impressed with the service and the food. The waiters were all very professional and not too overbearing. They didn't try and sell us very expensive wines like some restaurants in Venice have done. We had the fish taster menu, which was €75... More
