This is a restaurant where the locals eat. Attracts both young and old(er). Good food, not too traditional, a number of special dishes on the menu. They serve local food, including a delicious local red wine and local beer!

Nice atmosphere, the wine was good and so was the food. Very friendly service Prices are very moderate, real value for money.
As an Italian travel expert that has never happened to me before: After having discovered this restaurant I came back again and again during my 2 recent stays in Bergamo. First I enjoyed this place with my family and we tried almost every dish of the menu, 2 month later I went through the same experience with my American business...

This hidden jewel is well worth asking a few Bergamo locals "Where is the old cutting board?" ("Dove al vecchio tagliere?"). My first visit was so good...I came back twice in the next two days... for the friendly service from Luca and Giovanni...for the fun dining room packed with happy locals...and most of all, for the food. The classics (risotto,...

This restaurant is worth every praise! The atmosphere, the food, the stuff attitude, the prices, everything. We were there for dinner on a Friday evening. No tourists were eating there, which is always an advantage for me...You must try the "Casoncelli ala Bergamasca", the local stuffed pasta. It was heavenly! The service was relaxed, but quick, friendly but absolutely professional...

This is the kind of place I enjoy going back to when I visit my native Italy. I was visiting local friend and they promised to treat me to a nice dinner. It have appreciated their choice. Unpretentious and genuine food and traditional local recipes that you can afford. Well worth a visit.
This was recommended to us by the Manager of the Petronilla hotel. A little difficult to find but well worth the hunt. Set in a beautiful little square off the main shopping street it is a Gem. The owner speaks a little English and there are English menus. The menu is very varied with lots of Traditional Bergamasco specialities.

Great food at this hidden gem. We went at lunch time and it seems to be a popular place for the local business crowd. The food is wonderful. The service was a little slow, but they were packed. Great way to start our stay in Bergamo.
As the previous reviewer stated, this place is rather difficult to find. We tried to follow the previous reviewers directions, but still walked by it three times. Fortunately, through my broken Italian, a nice man with a dog guided us to the Piazzetta Manzu.
I would summarise the location as follows - heading south on Via Sant'Alessandro. Cross over Via...

This place can be a tiny bit tricky to find, but don't let that dissuade you. The food is outstanding. Follow via Sant'Alessandro heading south (away from the church on the left). At the time of the review, Square Shoes is on the right - look left, and you'll see a narrow entryway leading into Piazzetta Manzù, and the sign...
