We had heard such great reviews about the food here that we had to give it a try - then I wish we hadnt bothered. We were put on an outside table then pretty much forgot about, we could have easily drank more & would have stayed for dessert but after struggling to get the waiters attention to take our... More

If your budget can allow it, this really is a place to go. We have been recommended this restaurant by a friend and haven't been disappointed! The atmosphere and the waiters were very pleasant, but most of all the food and the wine were absolutely amazing!

We usually avoid restaurants directly on a piazza, worried that while the restaurant has a terrific location, the food will suffer. So, is the case with this 'ristorante'. The very cranky waiter directed us to a buffet area for the grilled vegetable appetizer that we ordered. The artichokes were inedible and the others mushy and tasteless. The eggplant with cheese... La Carbonara is a well known restaurant, it's frequented by families, friends, romantic couples and the clergy. It is atmospheric, the staff are friendly, interesting characters and helpful. The menu is vast and varied and the food is good and tasty. There's nothing wrong with it, it's good, traditional and trustworthy however there is a lot of competition around it... More

Went twice in one weekend second time with a group. And have been previouisly. Never been disappointed. Make sure you get the right La Carbonara restaurant because there are two, and our friends did manage to go to the other (inferior one) last year! Lovely setting in Campo di Fiore. Good choice of menu, plenty of variety. Pasta (inc Gnocci)... More

I have had several dishes here and I cannot complain about any of them to be honest, very "roman food". And yes, the carbonara is yummy. A bit crowded and noisy.

We had the Pasta Carbonara with ham, cream, and cheese. We had 15 in our party and the meal was served family style in a private room upstairs. The room overlooked the plaza which was teaming with people. The food quality was very good and the service also very good.

I went to La Carbonara with business colleagues. The seating was tight (I was constantly banging seats with the guys behind me), it was noisy (was very hard to have a conversation), the service was below par (not ruse but not attentive) and above all: the food was awful. It was just bad and greasy. Even the pasta was overdone.... More

It's been a several years since I last ate here and it was with a little trepidation that I revisited for lunch yesterday, wondering it it would live up to my great memories....well it did. The buccatini all amatriciana was as great as before...tasty and just the right size for a primi course. I had roast lamb and it was... More
