We had main courses of lasagne and pasta amatriciana (bacon and tomato). The food was excellent, hot and large portions with a nice amount of meat and cheese in the lasagne - straight from the oven - not like some places where it’s more or less all tomato.

Not sure why my experience seems better that everyone elses.
Very friendly staff, not pushy.
There were no other diners at the time we ate, so maybe that was a big part.
First, they immediately moved two tables together. The table had olive oil, salt, pepper and they brought fresh grated cheese. Seems average to an American, but few other...

There are lots of good, budget restaurants in the small streets around Santa Maria di Trastevere but Il Vicolo was particularly welcoming, with reasonable prices and food good and generous enough to satisfy two teenagers. Closed Wednesday when we visited, or we'd probably have eaten there twice!
