After reading several good reviews, we decided to give it a try. Il Cartoccio is a very small place, if you are not careful, you will really miss it. There are 2 small tables outside and a few inside. What do they have in the menu? Everything which can be fried...Fresh mozzarella, zucchini flowers, calamari, olives, vegetables...And we were really... More

Great location on Corso Vittorio Emanuele between Chiesa Nuova and Sant'Andrea della Valle, we literally ran by it as we got off the bus. A new experience for us -- veggies, seafoods, or meats fried in a light batter with seasoning, and served up in a paper cone. The hot fresh calamari was so good we had to try more... More

Oh Hi! Usually i never leave review on restaurants and read them on rare occasions but this time i was pleasantly surprised by this place and decided to share with you. From what I have read since (we just stumbled upon the place), it is known for being quite good and inexpensive. This place is small and very cozy. Yeah,... More

We just stopped by here to grab a dinner. The guy offered a plate of various fried sea food and vegetables and white wine. Everything was very tasty and fresh. We paid EURO 27 in total. There are three young people work there: two boys and a girl. All of them are very nice and friendly. I liked the atmosphere.

I went to "cartoccio" last week with 4 my colleagues and I tested several meals like fried shrimps, calamari, arthicokes, etc..... all of them were very light and digestible, the fry was crisp and golden, sign that the used oil was fresh and good quality. Also wine was very good, both red and white, and, above all, prices are very cheap!!!... More

As confusing as the title sounds, I just finished a delicious snack and wanted to tell fellow travelers about a true gem. Located on the Corso Vittorio Emmanuelle, a long stretch that takes you from Piazza Navona to the Vatican. Blink and you will miss it, but stop and you will never regret it. A small little hole in the... More

One sometimes feels cheated in such a tourist mecca as Rome is because they eat badly and pay much. This little place is just the opposite. The food range is very specific - they serve exclusively deep fried foods, but they have achieved perfection at making them! You'll pay 5 euro for a portion of fried fish (squid, prawns, etc)...
