I have been going to this restaurant for decades and have never had a bad meal. Nicola and his team produce delicious Tuscan specialities, in an ambience which hasn't changed much from the 1960's. The outside dining is delightful. So refreshing to go to a family run restaurant which isn't another anonymous link in a chain of restaurants!

There were no other people dining in the restaurant but I went in for lunch anyway on the recommendation of a friend who had been four or five years ago. I was charged a two Euro "cover charge". When I inquired about the charge, I was told this was a customary charge for bread (I hadn't asked for it, nor... More

The restaurant is the heart of the historical centre, between Piazza Venezia and the Pantheon, just two blocks from Via del Corso and well on the way to Piazza Navona. The restaurant was opened in 1901. It still offers authentic Tuscan cuisine and is said to be famous for the high quality of its meats: from the refined chateaubriand to... More

We loved Il Buco. The service was excellent--everyone was so nice and helpful, from the maitre d' to the waiter to the manager. We reserved ahead of time via email for their New Year's dinner and they were responsive and friendly. We had a delicious 7 course Tuscan meal (to include multiple dishes with shaved truffles!), dessert, DOCG Chianti, water,... More

Il Buco goes a long way back. The management is proud that it has so many repeat clients and there is every good reason for this: the cuisine promotes seasonal Tuscan fare (truffles in season, game in season, vegetables in season... and so on). As you enter the restaurant you will see a long counter filled with fresh produce, and... More

We were looking for a different restaurant when we stumbled upon il Buco, a small gem half way between the Pantheon and Vittorio Emmanuel, off via Corso. I ordered the tagliatelle with fresh porcini mushrooms...the dish was outstanding,of course, it is the season for mushrooms. Also, the carciofi (artichokes) were fabulous.our waiter, Alfredo, gave excellent service. If in Rome, give... More

Very nice Tuscan restaurant with excellent service. We were told to ask the wait staff what was special that night - and received an excellent meal, fabulous wine, and only a little bit of attitude when we refused to try the rabbit ;-)

Small family restaurant with fabulous tuscan quisine. The interior with its red checked tablecloths is a bit stereotypical but very cozy, the terrace is small but overgrown and very charming. The food is simply excellent and amazing value for money. The choice of wines is good - and not only but particularly the tuscan wines. Charming owner and staff -... More
