Description: The Hofbräukeller is a traditional restaurant situated at Wienerplatz in the Munich district of Haidhausen. It combines local hospitality with Bavarian beer tradition. The restaurant treats its international guests to some delicious food and of course the world-famous Hofbräu beer. Beer and food are also served out in the idyllic beer garden - weather permitting. Sit under the old chestnut trees in the lively and cosy setting of the beer garden. Enjoy the dish of the day or one of the numerous Bavarian speciality dishes which are all reasonably priced. Certain traditional dishes cost a mere 5.55 Euros. There are special meals for children and a supervised games room. The restaurant has 4 rooms, which can be used for all kinds of events.

Having lived in Munich for seven years this is ranked as one of my favourite Biergartens (the other two being the Augustinerkeller by Hauptbahnhof, and See Haus in the English Garden). The season is here and this is one of the places to be. Whether you like beer or not you'll find something to drink in the Biergarten as there... More

I was looking for an authentic German meal near my hotel, and Hofbraukeller fit the bill. The food was very good, and reasonably priced. The atmosphere was terrific - everyone was having a great time eating and drinking, and the people at the next table were playing a card game. I'm definitely glad I found this place.

Lacking the tourist element that is all too easily attracted to the main Hofbräuhaus in central Munich, the Hofbräukeller is much more relaxed and big enough that you can always find a table and get served with relative ease. Here, you’ll be able to mix with locals, expats who think they’re locals, the odd tourist and even the very odd... More

Do you want to eat real Bavarian food and drink Münich beer? Go to the Hofbraukeller. Good service, atmosphere and friendly staff. You can even take dancelessons in the basement.

Lots of kids around in here and it's slightly off the beaten track. Food was extremely good. Beer was usual reliable but unexciting HB. Waitress was a bit of a misery guts - we were 5 mins too late for Weisswurst, and there was no compromise on that, shame because it let a good place down. This place is huge... More

This biergarten is nothing special. The area is nice, but there are lots of other biergaerten in Munich that are better. I'd only go to this one if I were meeting friends who lived in this area. I wouldn't go especially for the food.

If you want to try Bavarian cuisine and feel the true Bavarian spirit, you have to go straight to Hofbraukeller. The food is very tasty and relatively cheap (compared to Moscow, for example), to say nothing about beer... Beer is terrific there! Especially Zwieckelbier - something you won't find a lot but something that is extremely qualitative and tasty. The... More

Had dinner with a colleague. It has a nice beer hall atmosphere, warm and inviting and I hear the outdoor beer garden is fantastic, but we are in the middle of January, so dining is inside tonight. It took over 10 minutes after sitting down (place was not busy) till someone came and asked us what we wanted to drink.... More

We were in Munich for 4 days in December and were struggling to find places for my 2 year old son to play (due to the snow). The Hofbraukeller was perfect. Do not be put off by the fact it is a beer hall. It is more like a restaurant used by locals to take their children and go out... More

We were here a couple of times - in the summer and winter. In the summer all sit in a garden and it is an enormous garden. Food fresh and tasty, beer good, especially dark. There was a self-service in the summer , in the winter not so fast service.
