Lovely place (can taste sea spray walking down the pier and see the fishing boats through the windows literally outside the front door) chilled vibe, good service, and top quality tapas style fish. Went for the Prawn pilpil, the chowder and the codfish & chips (with garlic sauce and side of mushy pea-paste). Contentment.... More

This restaurant is across the street from the wharf and the seafood is nothing short of fabulous. When I say fresh I mean it is literally walked across the street from the boat that caught it. The cod was outstanding and one of my friends said the mussels were the best he has ever had. Inexpensive and good. More

Was here on Tuesday with my 17 yr old daughter, plan was a long walk on Howth Head and finish up with fish n chips. Gale force winds, sleet ,hailstones and the freezing cold changed our minds when we got there .So, plan B, fish n chips. We had a lovely evening in the Oar House . Mussels with garlic... More

Dropped in here at around 5 in the evening to take advantage of the early bird menu and had our best meal during our trip to Dublin. All of the ingredients used were fresh, nicely cooked and very well presented, decent sized portions...had starter, main and desert with a bottle of wine for approx £70...and a view over Howth harbour... We visited this restaurant in April 2011 and they served some of the best prepared seafood I have ever eaten. It was so good that even though we were visiting Dublin the next day, we chose to go back to Howth and to eat at the Oar House again the following night. We were not disappointed either night. The sea... More

The food at The Oar House is always great. The range of fresh fish is mouth-watering. The menu is comprehensive and is supplemented by lots of daily specials which are on the boards. I have taken friends and family there and have never been disappointed. The staff are friendly and attentive. The prices are more than reasonable and the early-bird... More

I know it's a seafood restaurant, but you have to try the steak. Juicy, flavorful and tender! More
