A friend and I enjoyed a lovely lunch today in the Farmgate dining room. The lamb's liver was beautifully cooked with a large piece of bacon on the side. My friend had the homemade sausages and said they were delicious. My carrots and parsnips were well mashed and the jacket potatoes were very floury. I appreciated the gluten free bread.... More

Located on the upper floor of the Old English Market in Cork City Centre, this cafeteria offers quality food at a reasonable price including wine and beer.

My wife and I stopped in as we were shopping for a quick bite. We had a small appetizer and dessert, both of which were very good. I do agree that the portions felt a little small considering how much we spent. But the location is great and if you can get a seat on the railing there is great... More

I decided to have my breakfast in Farmgate recently and, honestly speaking, I expected a lot more from a place located in the English Market. A LOT more. Will never come back there for a meal again. I expected fresh, lovely smelling bread, fresh vegetables, fresh cheese and all that served on a nice plate with generous amount of garnishing... More

The second floor of the English Market in Cork is the two parts of this resto--the open part for snacks and the enclosed part for meals. The freshness is suggested by the daily printed-out menu and blackboard specials. If you order oysters, they go downstairs, buy them and shuck them on order, so they apologetically say, "it will be 10... More

My wife and I had a very nice appetizer, beer and wine, and dinner - a very fresh and flavorful meal, for much less than €40, including tip. . The owner or /waiter made the evening (although the food was good in its own right). He was very engaging As everyone else has mentioned, he was very quick to point... More

The review is for the balcony part of the Farmgate Cafe, which is a bit confusing since the dining room (a nice sit-down restaurant) is also on the balcony of the English Market. However, what Farmgate refers to as the balcony on their website is a lovely little coffee shop-type place, where you order food (sandwiches, baked goods, coffee) at... More

I have eaten here a few times over the years. You are better off in the sit down part as the open area is a bit of a squeeze and not cheaper. The food is not bad. The servings are more generous in the sit down cafe and a bit on the mean side in the open area. The roast... More

I really don't get this place. It's freezing, so you'll need to keep your coat on. It's very busy so if you get a seat in the self-service area you'll be squeezed up against the person next to you. The staff spend their time running and as a result, there's very little customer service and you constantly feel under pressure... More

Nice, relaxing cafe over looking the wonderful Cork Market. Great to relax over a coffee and home made cake.
