Typical high quality Costley place- spotless, friendly well trained staff and well prepared, tasty food. A great deli, ice-cream parlour and hand made chocs make this a real foodies destination.

Stopped into Souter Johnnie's for lunch to treat some overseas visitors. The setting is lovely - the thatched roof is eyecatching and in the sunshine the brilliant white of the exterior attractive. It looks like a mini 'House of Bruar' and there is a retail section but it is minimal. We ate in the restaurant and I was quite surprised... More

Visited on a Saturday early afternoon with 2 friends. Restaurant was fairly quiet but still waited a while to be acknowledged and found place to be uncomfortably cold. Ordered eventually after having to request that our order be taken and food came fairly promptly but just like the restaurant the food was far too cold to eat, 2 out of... More

Servce was friendly and food delicious but it tends to be busy and it makes no allowance for people with diatry requirements. They sell a lot of coffee but fail to provide soya milk.

We were over from New York visiting family in the Ayrshire area and we needed an easy, local place to take an elderly relative for lunch. We had driven past this restaurant many times, but had never gone in. We decided to give it a try, and I am very glad we did. I had the steak and sausage pie,... More

My partner & myself visit Souter's quite regularly. We enjoy a hearty main course quickly & simple as we have our 3yr old and attention span is limited when out dining. Over years we have had no major hiccups but of recent my attention is drawn to the kitchen side messing up! Few weeks back we popped in and i... More

Made to feel very welcome as soon as you enter. Our waitress Lynsay was brilliant nothing too much bother. Food was first class other half had the t bone steak and says its the best ever. Chicken cajun salad was fantastic as were the desserts. Please give this place a try you will not be dissappointed.

My family and i have been regular diners at Souter Johnnies for over a year and have loved everything about the cosy, enchanting, traditional building and its food. However.....we arrived on Tuesday to be greeted with the news that it is no longer Souter Johnnies during lunch time but Peggy's Tearoom?! The new shiny wooden floor and white walls is... More
