I can't believe I have been coming to Aviemore for years and have only now discovered this place. Unlike so many other places in the village, the food was fresh, tasty and good value for money. Also, praise has to go to the waitresses who were rushed off their feet but managed to stay friendly and efficient. The breakfast selection... More

I love this place! Great views and great food. Would highly recommend the veggie burger and the Cullen skink - only problem is the portions are so big I can never manage the cakes afterwards.....just as well they do takeaways too :)) Be prepared to queue at lunchtime though.

I visited here twice in may 2013 with my hubby after cycling from Ballater over lecht to aviemore. So each time I arrived ravenous!! The cakes and breads are all made on site and the only complaint is that I wanted one of everything!! I had the most amazing chicken and butternut salad. The nicest salad I have had. The... More

We stopped in Aviemore for a late lunch yesterday and decided to try Mountain Cafe based on the trip advisor reviews. It did not disappoint. We had to wait 10 minute for a table at 3.30pm which goes to show how popular it is. Unfortunately my first choice of quiche of the day was finished (again not surprising given the... More

My husband and I have visited the Mountain Cafe many times over the past few years, when we first visited we raved about it but then we found it went down hill somewhat and so did not visit for quite sometime. We tried it again possibly about a year ago and it was good although not what it once was... More

Judging by its location, above an outdoor clothing store, you might not be drawn in to this cafe, but it is really fantastic. They have made the most of a modern setting to create a lovely ambience in the cafe. The coffee was the best we had in our whole trip - a rich strong macchiato and creamy latte. The... More

Best cup of coffee I have had in a long time. What a display of cakes - it will blow your mind Servings so large, you will need to share. Lovely!

Food was first class with cracking views of Cairngorm on the horizon. Loses a mark for not making clear on the menu that the lovely looking home-baked bread contained nuts, which could have caused problems as a nut allergy sufferer, despite all other dishes being clearly labelled. That minor point aside, highly recommended!
