What else could you ask for on a wonderfully clear, cold and crisp February day when skiing. Good Food to refuel. Lovely hot drinks, and a view for miles and miles. It gets very busy at the peak lunch times but if you stagger your drink/meal breaks you can easily keep away from loads of people. Be aware it is... More

Having read previous reviews, I made sure to visit the Ptarmigan when at Cairngorm. I was the only.customer on the dull Thursday morning, and there were 2 staff serving- one really friendly man and a less friendly woman. The hot chocolate was not bad but it wasn't particularly special as other reviews suggest. The Tiffin was ok but a little... More

During the day this is a basic cafe restaurant but the food is good, hot and tasty especially if you have been out in the snow! It gets pretyy busy during ski season so sometimes its difficult to get a table. Comy setees overlook the viewing platform and there are also good views from the window tables.

When youve climbed up Cairngorm or spent the day skiing the Ptarmigan is a welcome stop for refreshments. The staff are always pleasant and helpful, even cooking my very cold son chips after they had stopped serving! Been there on many occaisions whilst walking and skiing and look forward to visiting again very soon.

Arrived here mid afternoon. Tables weren't that clean but hot chocolate and cakes were lovely and the restaurant was a welcoming, warm environment from the zero degree temperate outside!

I've been here a few times and the same thing seems to come to mind. The hot chocolate is nice, but not phenomenal, The food is kind of shop self service/works canteen fayre. It didnt help that there were umpteen tradesmen and workers all using the diner at the same time as us, so we were in a queue with... More

You must visit for the views. Lunch was ok but they were very busy, had to wait in a long queue then had to share a table with others. Staff were a bit stressed and could have been friendlier. It's basically a buffet cafe, soup and rolls, etc NOT dining!
