Stunning views from this top floor Restaurant at the wonderful NMS (National Museum of Scotland) but sadly let down by the offering! I visited at lunchtime and selected from the "two courses for £15.95" menu. My starter (sardine fillets on a lentil/veg concasse) was very tasty but was such a miniscule portion, I could have eaten three! It was warm,... More

I think this place is very overrated. Nice location, on top of a museum with views to the Castle. But that sirloin steak of me and my 2 table companions was very bad! Too much grease and nerves. Prices were high, the food but also 4.5 pounds for coffee is over the top.

We were here for dinner with a friend and it was really good. As it was a beautiful evening we were able to have pre-dinner drinks on the terrace outside. The view over to the castle is spectacular. Small but interesting menu with good local produce. Attentive and friendly service.

On arriving to partake of aftrnoon tea at 2:30 in the afternoon we were greeted by an unpleasant smell of drains, a virtually empty restaurant and a member of staff telling us that we could not order afternoon tea until 3 o'clock. Unable to comment on the quality of the food as we didn't wait.

After it's sister restaurant, The Witchery," lost" our booking we went to The Tower for lunch. This was the worst meal we had over the weekend by a long shot. Bouillabaisse was a bowl of thick tomato soup wit 3 pieces of fried fish on top of a tian of vegetables and 2 mussels served with a singular tiny croute... More

Visited this restaurant on 28th April to celebrate my daughter's birthday and new job with her accompanied by my husband and son. We had booked over 3 weeks previously as the restaurant has an excellent reputation and is very busy. It is pleasantly decorated and unusually placed at the top of the museum looking over the Edinburgh rooftops. The internal... More

The hotel told us this was a very good restaurant, with a beautiful view of the castle (that should have been our first clue.). It was a typical tourist spot also with locals celebrating birthdays, girls night out, etc. the food was overpriced, and not good and the service was spotty-----save your money!

If you've got an extra wad of cash that you need to get rid of after you've seen the museum, head up to the tower (we had to ask for directions). The small portions were delicious so we didn't mind the size. The service is outstanding. Go for lunch.
