I read about Dubh Prais on Tripadvisor and was not disappointed. The food (starter: smoked salmon, main: venison, afters: Scottish cheese platter) was simply the best that I've had in 50ish years of restaurant experiences. It's a minimalist operation with 1-2 servers who double as drink-mixers, a chef and sous chef. It's also a tiny place that isn't easy to... More

Absolutely without question the best meal we have ever had. Service fantastic, attentive but not over bearing. Cosy and intimate surroundings. Worth every penny.

We stumbled upon this little jewel of a restaurant quite by accident but were glad we did - we didn't have a reservation but they still managed to accommodate 4 of us. The Haggis starter was fantastic!

My wife and I were in Edinburgh mid May, 2012. We decided to eat at Dubh Prais due to the good ratings on Tripadvisor. We arrived at about 17:30 and the restaurant was mostly empty except for two tables. While the food was average, the problem we had was with the service and their policy that each person must order... More

Tiny (24 seats) you need to book but it is a must. Friendly staff, really great value food, not cheap but faultless. Try the West Coast Broth for a real seafood treat, mains were really good, hardly had room for a pudding but managed it and so glad I did. Right on the Royal Mile down some steps Into an... More

We both agreed, one of the best meals we have ever had. The steak was sublime! Definitely one to recommend.

We were on the hunt for haggis, as this was our first trip to Scotland. Well, let me tell you, we found it! The menu at this restaurant is mouth-watering and almost brings tears to your eyes. I had the haggis for an appetizer and it was juicy and delicious. The leek sauce that accompanies it is a great complement.... More

Wow, what can I say about this restaurant? My girlfriend and I visited Edinburgh for our anniversary and booked Dubh Prais for our celebratory meal. We were able to secure a table two days in advance, although it was for a Thursday night and perhaps not their busiest day of the week. As other reviews have said, it is a... More

We thought the food was a bit too big at times, but very inventive and tasty.
