I used to visit here regularly, and would frequently recommend it to others who were visiting the area. However, things have changed since then, possibly due to new management. I've been back a few times recently to make sure it wasn't just a 'one-off', but have been seriously let down every time. Firstly, while the waiting staff are still friendly... More

I went for a meal here earlier this month and was very pleased. The restaurant is in a great location right next to the Fourth Rail Bridge. Although there was a slight wait for the food - nothing drastic! - everyone enjoyed their meals and was pleased with the excellent, polite service from the waiting staff. I had the hunters... More

We visited this restaurant after reading the many positive reviews. However things must have changed since these reviews Two of our party ordered the fish pie which was so over cooked (microwaved) that it was inedible. It couldn’t really be described as a pie as it was more like a soup with hard bits of fish floating in a watery... More

We had a family lunch out yesterday which can only be described as chaotic. My partner and I arrived first and sat down and had a drink, while the rest of our party arrived but sat down at a different part of the restaurant as we didn’t see them arrive. That was the first part to cause confusion to the... More

On a wet and windy family outing to South Queensferry, we were delighted to find this large, cosy pub offering a two-course lunch for £9.95. Unfortunately the meal didn't quite live up to our expectations. We found a comfortable table, and an extremely friendly waitress quickly took our drinks order. The beer-drinkers in our party were pleased with the selection... More

We have just been for lunch today here for the first time. I thought the Inn had a great atmosphere as it's lovely and cozy with warming decor and fires. Lots of choice on the menu's with something for everyone and the prices about right. Some of the specials cost a bit more but that is to be expected and... More

We ate at the Hawes Inn after a trip on the Maid of the Forth to Inchcolm Abbey. The warmth was certainly inviting. Stepping into the inn is like going back in time, with the place maintaining the decor from the days Robert Louis Stevenson would have stayed here. The place was very busy, so a lot of the specials... More

Enjoyed our lunch here - they have something for all price ranges. I am vegetarian and really enjoyed the hummus and falaffel flatbread. Husband had steak sandwich and enjoyed it. You get served around 6 pots of different condiments to accompany your meal which we enjoyed. Lovely views.

Having lived in the area for over 10 years, we have visited the Hawes Inn often, and always been satisfied. We often bring guests from overseas to enjoy the fantasic views and location, and to enjoy a meal in an excellent setting. Last night was just such an occasion when I attended with my wife, son and a visitor from... More

Lunched here on Easter Monday. Hadn't booked, knew it would be busy and it was, even after 2pm when we arrived. No problem finding a table though and we always think half the fun is going through all the nooks and crannies and deciding where you want to sit! At lunchtimes you do still have to order at the bar... More
