Description: With its wonderful food and intimate atmosphere Librizzi is very popular with locals. Tall white walls frame a smart yet cosy space in which elegant black chairs sit at white linen-draped tables. Chef Filippo Librizzi promises 'the true taste of Sicily' in an exciting culinary diversion from the well-worn track of Italian food. The lunch menu offers classic dishes such as grilled sardines, and succulent lamb and pork meatballs served with sauteed potatoes. At night, by candlelight, the table d'hote menu lists simple, fresh fish, meat and pasta dishes such as pasta quills with Sicilian sausage in a tomato and chilli sauce. Filippo's love of fish is reflected in the fish specials which change every few days. Desserts are divine.

My wife and I visited Librizzi's quite by chance last night on the recommendation of the head waiter at another restaurant which was full. We can highly recommend this restaurant on all counts. For starters we had the mixed antipasti and the caponata, both were delicious. For mains we had saltimbucca and the calves liver, again excellent. Desert was tiramisu... More

Librizzi has been one of my favourite resturants for many years - great service and superb food quality. However I took friends from London last Saturday for dinner and was desperately disappointed with the service and the food. Firstly the service - as we entered the restaurant we were met by a new big gruff waiter who pointed out our... More

Great family run restaurant. The food was lovely, clean and freshly made to order, good choice of wine and the service was faultless. Also very good value for money considering the quality and choice of food.

Visited here for lunch with my wife and my 11 month old daughter. The waiter couldn't have been nicer and more helpful. Nothing was too much trouble for him. They provided us with a half portion of one of the dishes for my daughter (which she loved!) and charged half price for it. Nothing was too much trouble. Our food... More

Visited Librizzi late on Saturday 12 November evening following a chance conversation with a local in the street who recommended the restaurant highly. We were visiting Edinburgh to celebrate an anniversary and were looking for somewhere with a special atmosphere and a menu other than the usual pizza/pasta. First impressions of the restaurant were really positive, staff found us a... More

Quality food, if you want pizza pasta this is not the place for you. Fresh fish every day, and the Ossobucco was to die for.

Dined here on a Monday evening with two friends for a birthday celebration. The menu is quite varied with some Sicilian favourites and a compatible wine list which served to compliment the meal. We were warmly and graciously received, service was attentive but not over - bearing. The decor and atmosphere are charming and yet we were still comfortable to... More

Very disappointing. When the food arrived we were disappointed at the size of the portions as they were very small but after one mouthful we were relieved that we didn t have to eat more! The monk fish was tough and over salty, the duck livers were dried out and hard, the lamb chops were small and dried out and... More

I can only imagine that the lack of recent reviews for this place is because nobody ever goes there. We had a 241 offer and apart from a solo tourist, we were the only people in on a Thursday night. This is meant to be a fish restaurant, the menu for fish specials was unpriced. For starters we had 7... More
