Went for a quick summer evening dinner with friends from London. Excellent service from the staff and great menu. Could easily have had three or four choices. Had mussels to start followed by smoked mackeral with mustard cream sauce and roast potatoes. All very tasy and reasonable prices.

Taking up the first floor of the building, it's a cheap and cheerful place (in a good way). The food was homely and excellent with a great range of local beers. Well worth a trip.

This restaurant specialises in "normal food". I had fish and ships, two friends had a steak sandwich and one had haggis. Nothing fancy like smudges of balsamic or a slice of unusual fruit with the meal. Just nicely cooked, safe food. Which is why it's hard to give this place 5 stars. I mean, it's not really pushing itself to... More

A real star in the mid-range for contemporary Britsih/Scottish food. Usually packed, so maybe start the evening downstairs in Underdog?

Came across this place on a wet and miserable evening, liked the look of the menu and my friend and i imeediately liked the plain warm friendly set-up with wooden tables and chairs upstairs. Food was simple but very tasty - saw the huge plate of mussels on another table and wished I'd been hungry enough to try them as... More

Visited this restaurant on a Wednesday evening 8pm. As far as I could see excluding our own table it was full and this mixed with the quirky decor gave it a great feel. I had the mussels and goats cheese crumble - both of which were cooked well and tasted fantastic. I will say here that my girlfriend had the... More

We booked a table for dinner here based on the Bib Gourmand recognition in the Michelin guide. The restaurant focuses on Scottish food with great Scottish produce. We had a plate of steamed mussels for starter and it was amazing, maybe the best mussels we've ever had. For mains we had pan fried salmon and pork belly cooked in cola.... More

My husband and I went for lunch. I ordered the smoked cheese, cauliflower and barley risotto. My husband ordered fish pie with baby new potatoes. My dish was bland, could hardly taste smoked cheese, there were about 6 pieces of cauliflower about 2 centimetres in size. The barley was really chewy and not enjoyable. My husbands pie came with a... More
