Straight away the ambience was delightful. The decor was traditional and quaint. The staff were friendly and smiling. The service was promt, no keep on bothering you while you were eating. Good timing between courses. The starter of haggis in filo parcels with plum sauce was cooked well and delicious tasting, a little less sauce would have been more beneficial... More

Haggis in filo pastry and redcurrant sauce was exquiste as was my scottish sea bream. A characterful basement restaurant, with attentive service and a food to perfection.

Tried the lunchtime menu, first time we had haggis and loved the dish! Well cooked and presented dish. Great to see Scottish fare... Host was friendly and welcoming, we had 3 kids with us so we was pleasantly surprised to feel so welcomed. Great restaurant, well worth a visit and at £50 for a family of five great value, Thank... After a travel book raved about this restaurant I decided to book a table for our last night in Edinburgh. The atmosphere was very romantic and cosy and the service was prompt and friendly however the menu lacked variety which was the only real disappointment. I had the scallops to start which were tasty, but it seemed like the melted... More

I wouldn't recommend this restaurant, I think it's overrated for the quality of service and the kind of menu. They have only a few tables but still could not serve promptly, the choice in the menu is among 4 entrance and 4 main dishes, and probably only a couple of them were really appealing. Wouldn't go back or recommend.

Having enjoyed Stac Polly in st Marys St a few times the bar was raised very high for Dublin St, on arrival the Head waiter recognised us from St.Marys St and greeted us like old friends, an excellent start and it just got better. Service was slick, efficient friendly and proffessional and the food was fantastic, the famous haggis in... More

Food was excellent, service good and a warm welcome too! The best places to eat always seem to be slightly off the beaten track an this is one of them. Certainly worth a visit.

Great selection of flavours in the food and lovely service. The staff and service was prompt without rushing us in any way and our whole evening was extremely well organised both before and during. Our party of 17 were very comfortable in our private room and we were all very glad to have chosen Stac Polly for our night out.... More
