I am a Gwaelod boy so the inn has fond memories dating way back. Its a little smarter these days and you can get a good meal here too. A bit out the way but worth looking for.

Welcoming staff, we had just climbed the Garth and needed food and a cold beer, there were no sandwiches left but the lady said I could choose a filling and she would make it fresh, the sandwich was crammed with pork and apple...lovely!!! Well worth a visit!!

Sat in bar downstairs. Had classic Sunday lunch food, perfectly cooked with generous portions. Quick and personal, friendly service. Great selection of real ales and some good, reasonably priced wines. Still retain the pool table and pub drinking feel so not just a foodie place (helps having the more formal restaurant space upstairs). Highly recommend.

Show me a better pub! Great food and splendid beer, especially from their own brewery. Well worth a visit! The Wye Valley they have is especially good here.

This place is busy so you have to book. It is busy for a reason. The food is excellent, staff extremely accommodating, choice of great ales, dog friendly, great atmosphere and very fairly priced. The open fire and warm welcome makes this a lovely pub. Would definitely recommend for others. I've been previously for food too and the food is delicious.
