We were a family party of 8 on a Friday evening and we had a lovely meal. All starters and main courses were excellent. It is very cosy, but comfortable and very friendly, helpful staff. We wouldn't hesitate to go again.

We did not want to eat in one of the increasing number of chain restaurants springing up in Cardiff city centre so we opted for Giovannis. On entering we were surprised at its "cosiness" i.e. small, dimly lit and tables very close together. W were pleased to hear Italian opera music on entering which deteriorates sadly to eighties love ballads... More

Serivce was friendly, but altogther competent. My waiter failed to write my order down, so forgot my starter. Thereafter I was looked after better. Meatballs were of good texture but did not taste of much - needed more seasoning. Tomato sauce was not as tasty as it should have been. Veal in bacon and mushrooms was served with a heavy... More

We celebrated my daughters birthday at Giovanni's on what turned out to be a very busy Saturday evening. The quality of the food, service, atmosphere and setting was excellent and the staff are to be thanked for looking after our party of 9 people in a way that ensured the celebration felt special. This restaurant has been open for many... More

May be this used to be a good restaurant but is certainly isn’t now. We love Italian but this was probably the worse we have ever had. My supposedly ‘welsh’ lamb cutlets were dry and served on unappetising lettuce. My husbands pasta was inedible. The staff were more interested in fiddling with the television than providing good food and efficient... More

We went to Giovanni's recently to celebrate a family birthday. The place has been open since I was a kid and I last went there about 10 years ago, remembering it as a cheesy but fun place to go, and not too expensive. All of this is stil true even this many years later. The service is good, but at... More

After looking around Cardiff city centre, where the majority of restaurants are chains, so the menu is much of a muchness, we came across Giovannis, which stood out from the others. The menu looked wonderfull. After first being told that unless I booked they had no tables available , I took their card and phone a little later, and got... More
