Description: Our award-winning Restaurant (three AA Rosettes) is based on simple but firm principles. We start with the best ingredients we can find, preferably local (some from the hotel garden), and we believe taste is more important than style. Our Head Chef, Michael Penaluna, and his team, make it their business to get to know our suppliers, then use their skills to produce dishes that enhance rather than confuse the flavours. Classic techniques but a contemporary approach to produce Modern British dishes that are light, fresh, flavoursome. Whether you fancy our breakfast which is bigger, tastier and healthier than ever, great value Lunch Menu (L16.95 including coffee), House Menu at just L28 for three courses or leisurely Dinner Menu, you'll find an atmosphere that's warm, relaxed and friendly. Our Restaurant has two dining areas: the former music room with earthy tones and fun splashes or orange and the light and leafy Garden Room with its summer terrace.

We decided to ask in advance if JDH would prepare its Tasting menu for six of us which they kindly agreed to do for a lunchtime. The greeting on arrival was warm and from thereon in the service became colder and colder. The Tasting menu is not cheap (£55 per head) and we also chose the accompanying wine selection (which... Service, food and especially taste. Can’t ask better on our 10th Wedding anniversary. Good selection of wines and champagne; Cheese tray was lovely and I believe the evening tea is very popular.

We went to the taster evening for valentines. Once again the food was fantastic, the atmosphere was lovely with a band and singer. The staff provided a fabulous service. Taster evenings are great, really get to try things that you probably wouldn't normally choose, been to 4 of them now always good. Throughly recommend!!!

Disappointed. Lovely building and gardens but expected the food to be better.

Jesmond Dene House should rightly feel proud of their excellent reputation,as our evening was a beautifully presented dining experience, and one which we hope to repeat very soon!

You get what you pay for...except the house menu really is excellent value. You get really interesting and tasty food and are surprised by little add on dishes (compliments of the kitchen) before the starter and the dessert. Ingredients seem top notch and cooked to perfection. Service is excellent and attentive and general ambience wonderful. It's a class above most... More

This was a return visit to this city restaurant. On this occasion there were eight for an evening meal. The food and service were first class. We were not rushed in any way and the staff were very pleasant . Having now visited for lunch and an evening meal, I can highly recommend this city gem.

Had wanted to go here for a very long time but never managed to fit it in so jumped at the chance to visit on a recent short trip home. Great service and truly wonderful food in a very relaxed setting. I had a couple of special requests and these were well taken care of. If you have the chance... More
