A large group of us pre-booked the upstairs room of this little restaurant for lunch last weekend and were very pleasantly surprised by the quality and variety of the food, miraculously cooked in a tiny kitchen. The usual snacks (baked potatoes etc) were there but also delicious dishes not normally available such as toasted crumpets and teacakes with savoury or... More

Visited today. A great friendly welcome, great fresh food at sensible prices. Paul has some great and original ideas and plans and is well worth supporting.

Wow! The menu is amazing - so much choice and lots of interesting dishes. The cheese scones (made by the owner) were out of this world, served with salad and a delicious spicy chutney. There was a mouthwatering choice of homemade cakes and we would highly recommend the two we tried, victoria sandwich and the simnel cake. There is a... More

Like most of Lavenham, Sweetmeats is housed in a medieval building, all wonky surfaces and exposed wood. On stepping in the front door (via some tall disabled-unfriendly steps) you discover where the name comes from - a large range of home-made type sweets, plus a cabinet of interesting flavoured ice-creams. Squeeze past that (the whole building is very narrow), zig-zag... More

Thank you, Sweetmeats, you've done it again! An excellent evening, all 10 of us in our party last night thoroughly enjoyed the supper, and the Steak & Kidney pud was the best I've ever had! Very best wishes for your continued success.

You will be spoiled for choice by the menu in this tea room! My husband enjoyed piping hot vegetable soup which was served with generous wedges of crusty brown bread and butter. I loved the jerk chicken which had just the right amount of heat and loads of flavour. My friend enjoyed the very mild wild mushroom and lentil stroganoff.... More

We popped in for a cup of tea and ended up ordering toasted teacakes too. They were served with cream, butter & jam which was very nice indeed! We really enjoyed our afternoon there and looking forward to visiting again soon.

i really enjoyed my time in here very friendly people serving unlike some of the cafes in lavenham this owner was down to earth and they didn't charge lavenham prices. Of the three cafes i went to in lavenham on my stay this was the best.
