I had found the reviews about The Cock on TripAdvisor, which in the main, were positive. As we were to meet on a Saturday, I thought... More

I spent a lovely evening here in May 2013. I had an excellent meal - which was great vfm - and then relaxed for the rest of teh evening in a comfy chair reading. A great place to be.

I am glad I didn't see the previous review. This place was delightful. Service was friendly, the prices fair, personally the atmosphere was exactly what I require when eating.... My wife and I were able to chat and take in the rustic charm of the building. If you like old beamed buildings, then you want to visit this just for... More

Can't believe that a previous reviewer thought this place had a mouthy landlady. The lady who seemed in charge this weekend was everything a good English landlady should be, welcoming, chatty but without being over the top. She took great time and trouble to explain our quirky English beers to a group of tourists who had just arrived. Popped into... More

We've visited this pub twice now. My husband had the slow roasted ham shank the first time so recommended it to our friends our second visit. He had it again too. Both times he said it was one of the best he's had in a restaurant and our friends agreed. I had a good meat pie the first time there... More

Having read through the other comments, I find myself correcting the 'downward trend' of some of them. There was no 'mouthy' landlady. The barman was helpful and friendly, he brought a bowl of water for the dog too. The food was not only of a very reasonable price ( we expected more for what we had) but service was quick... More

Nothing amazing but certainly nothing poor. 2 coffees and 2 hot beef sandwiches at a decent price. Food was above average. Recommended
