Description: Situated around the corner from The Royal Crescent, The Marlborough Tavern combines the atmosphere of a local pub with the quality of a top restaurant. Two AA rosettes, a horde of local & national awards plus inclusions in The Michelin Guide and Good Food Guide bear testimony to their consistent delivery of high quality cooking. They have a clear approach to food find the best and freshest ingredients and to create great tasting, essentially simple dishes where the quality of the produce speaks for itself. Married to that is a passion for inventiveness that sees the menu constantly changing. Food is essentially though not slavishly English in character and takes advantage of locally sourced produce wherever possible. The lunchtime menu features a range of lighter dishes and sharing plates plus some traditional pub classics - and the Sunday roasts are legendary. Their food reputation is matched by their service always friendly and attentive without being intrusive. They have an extensive wine list and selection of local ales, and they can mix a mean cocktail too. Outside they boast what is arguably Baths finest pub garden; a walled courtyard space, its perfect for summertime lunching and drinking.

Thought this was supposed to be a gastro pub? Menu was uninspiring, waitresses over eager (please don't interrupt me when I'm eating to ask me how my meal is.. It's really annoying!). The fries might have come from McDonalds. And please stop serving food on bits of wood. It's not easy to eat off. The place was also pretty noisy.... More

No listing yet for the Hare and Hounds but thought i would post our visit there, here! We took some visiting friends here for Sunday lunch and had a really great meal. The roast beef was excellent, good gravy and really nice veggies. We had a lovely table by the window with great views out across the hills. Attentive fast... More

To eat and chill out. Perfect atmosphere of a pub, but not where everybody are drunk as hell. All in all - very very good place. Planning to host my b-day there.

We decided to have a nice meal out on our last evening in Bath and went to the Marlborough on recommendation of the owner of the apartment we rented. We liked the atmosphere of the place and the fact that it is dog friendly. However, our service was so-so and the the food really overpriced for what you get. My... More

I've eaten at this gastropub several times and generally been reasonably impressed. Last saturday the food was definitely so-so despite the prices charged and the service, whilst friendly was rather slack. One of our party of four's starter didn't arrive until we had nearly finished and then only after prompting. We were left wondering whether the chef had been moved... More

We are pleased to say that Richard is still our Head Chef, and continues to create fantastic food using the finest local produce. It does appear on this occasion there was a problem with the delivery, and we can only apologise for this. After further investigation, it appears we failed to let the table know that we had an accident... More

We visited as part of a late Mother's day present and it was definately worth the wait. The interior is very nicely decorated and was busy (Saturday night) so booking is advisable. I would describe the food as "gastro pub" at its best. Service was attentive but not intrusive and the food arrived promptly. We couldn't fault the food and... More

The title says it all. Went on a Monday evening in April and I felt that the food that came out of the kitchen did not do justice to the venue or the way the menu read. Had a issue with unclean razorclams on my starter and my wife's pork belly starter was nice but the belly part was verging... More
