We have been eating at La Ruga In Walthamstow Village for several years now on special occasions, namely Valentines day, our Anniversary, my other halfs bday and occasional New years eve. We have even moved away from Walthamstow 3 years ago but revisit just for this restaurant. In the past 6 years the standard has always been consistent and exceptional.... More

Excellent tiger prawns and a nutty caramel tart to die for. Served by a really friendy Lara, who has to be the 1st Italian woman who speaks English, with a French accent, I have ever met! Good food and with 'offers' great value. I will become a regular.

As ever the relaxed atmosphere, great service and food make for a brilliant evening out. Having the menu on the board and then explained is a great touch. Not charging extra for the vegetables makes pricing clear. Value for money just bloody good value!

As I said, excellent value and the service is incredible. Very friendly small restaurant in Walthamstowe village east London. We - my wife and several of our friends have been there a number of times during 2011. Always the same atmosphere - warm and friendly. The menu is in Italian on a board but for those who cannot understand the... More

We have been here many times before and rather enjoyed it but our latest visit was less than satisfactory. The mains menu was shorter than usual and the food was not as good as before. In particular the rabbit "casserole" was large chunks of over cooked dry meat covered in a very overpowering picquant juniper sauce that obliterated any residual... More

Everything about this place is wonderful: the food is cooked to perfection, the service is attentive and friendly, the atmosphere is warm and cosy. It's a place of great charm. I can't recommend it enough. P.S. I agree with the other reviewer about the Toffee Bread - amazing. Also, their gnocchi is one of the best things I've ever eaten.

Attended a wedding function here and have to say the expereince was truly delightful. The food is amazing and the care and attention from the staff is outstanding. This is a great little Bistro/restaurant in a convenient location that adds that extra special touch only expereineced in a handful of similar establishments. The artwork adorning the walls of the restaurant... More

La Ruga is a great neighbourhood restaurant. It’s warm and inviting, with friendly service and fantastic home cooked food. The fish is always first rate, but please make sure you save some room for Toffee Bread. It’s a sublime experience that really can’t be beaten.

i must say that this restaurant has never failed to impress me , my partner and i visit quite regularly, because it is the only eatery in the area that provides exceptional homecooked food at reasonable cost. we both love the atmosphere provided by the friendly staff and intend to book again this weekend. a great find in north london...
