Description: Nestled beneath the gloriously couture Blakes Hotel one of London's greatest gastronomic secrets hides in subterranean splendour. Blakes Restaurant is not just for guests but has become, over the course of more than three decades, a destination in itself. Serving cuisine that has been designed by Anouska Hempel with as much attention to detail as her architectural projects and over the years has been refined and perfected. With delicate influences from the Orient and Asia to the decadent indulgences of Europe, each item on the menu entices the senses. On few menus in the world would Sashimi sit so comfortably next to a huge Blini crowned with smoked Salmon and Caviar. Like the immaculate room in which it is served, the cuisine reflects the tastes and travels of Anouska Hempel and every guest leaves with a treasured experience.

We were joined by several friends visiting from Italy for lunch in the Fusion Restaurant downstairs and everyone commented how impressed they were with the extremely high standard of food. Several of us had the Scallop and the seared Salmon which were sublime and cooked to perfection, the calamari from the al a carte menu was excellent. The wine menu... More

We went there for a girly dinner. It is well decorated and with a bar with huge sofa where you can relax after dinner. The meal was lovely with interesting flavour combination. I had a wasabi puree mousse with the duck, we were curious to have the dessert with a subtle taste of miso, interesting! A lovely , tasty dinner,... More

We went a couple of times with friends and family for dinner. We love the beautiful ethnic decor and warm atmosphere (like being in a museum but so cosy). The food is delicious (creative mix of traditional ingredients with more exotic touches) and perfectly presented. Staff is very pro and friendly at the same time.

It is a small private restaurant, low lit and romantic, good choice of pan Asian food. Very friendly staff, who recommended great wine. I ate the lobster, and hot chocolate pot, and was very happy with my choice.

The staff were lovely, very friendly and attantive, however the room was the tiniest room I have ever stayed in in London (and one of the most expensive). The bathroom was bigger than the bedroom, quite embarrasing really. They also tried to charge me for items from the minibar that i did not consume. Don't stay unless you can stretch... More

Thank you for your review, I remember welcoming you at reception and confirming that it was a single room that had been reserved for you. I am sorry that you found it to be too small as we could have shown you another room, they are all different. The single room you stayed in actually has a queen size bed... More

Really great hidden gem. Menus was interesting and food did not disappoint. Very classy the way the place is run. Several of the wines we wanted were not available and they provided a better wine at the same price. No drama; very classy in the way it was handled; reflects very well on the management. High marks!

Fantastic this is what we are about! I am sorry that we were short of stock on our winelist but happy that we were able to be flexible enough that it was not an issue. New Menu on the 1st of March, we look forward to welcoming you back soon. Best regards Julian More

My husband and I and our 15 year old daughter recently came here on a Saturday to celebrate a birthday - we had been here often in our youth and thought it would be fun to see how it had faired. While the food was fine, and the Eastern European waiting staff were keen, indeed zealous, the service had hiccups... More

An intimate Chinese feel restaurant with some interesting artefacts on display. Very quiet mid week but service could have been better. Steak tartare was very good as is their coffee :)

We had dinner in this restaurant in a nice atmosphere. The food was very good and professionally served. The only disappointing thing was that they charged us 50 pounds over the dinner price as a service fee (15%), with a "OPT SRV" remark on the receipt.

I am so sorry that you felt disappointed by the 15% service charge being added to your bill. This is of course discretionary.
