Description: In the heart of the City, just off bustling Bishopsgate; The Water Poets well-worn charm is a breath of fresh air in an area usually dominated by super slick wine bars. The restaurant and pool room are popular with Liverpool Street locals and visitors to nearby Spitalfields Market, while the sunny beer garden draws in post-work drinkers from all over London. The dcor is a mix of comfortable leather, red walls and gilt-edged mirrors which create a stylish but laid-back atmosphere. Chef Bernadette Forde serves up classic pub grub like steak sandwiches and burgers, as well as dishes from her Posh Menu like chargrilled calves liver; roast plaice with creamed butter beans and fennel; and the irresistible Baileys and white chocolate cheesecake.

We went there to Watch Eurovision 2012 with a large group of friends. It being a lovely day the garden was in use. They have a barbecue outside and so many different rooms. A lot of choices (if you want a quiet area or a busy large area for groups). They did Eurovision screenings in all the rooms and we... More

Met friends here before heading to Brick Lane after they finished work. Special local brewery beers on tap and you can even get a traditional British sausage roll to go with it! Arrive early if you want a seat. Bigger than appears from the outside Just inside the famous Norton Folgate street in London There main menu looked good to!

As we were staying next door in the Tune Hotel, we called to this pub a few times during our stay. The first night we called in was a Monday night. There was a good crowd in the beer garden but we were still able to get a seat in a quiet corner. The food is excellent, especially the sharing... More

Now that Spring & Summer is around the corner, I would definitely recommend dropping into The Water Poet for refreshing ales and freshly cooked bbq burgers.

Went with colleagues after work on the premise that we could stand outside in the beer garden. It is pushing it a little to use the word Garden as it is more of a concrete courtyard. Everyone else clearly had the same idea as it was mobbed and the 2 small bars struggled to cope with the 3 deep mob.... More

Very good atmosphere on weekends with plenty of rooms to mingle in. The roasts are very good and would recommend this place for large parties and a generally good time. Nice selection of beers and ales

This place is very good to start the evening, or for a bit of lunch. Pub grub is tasty, and generally good vibe for pints, with friendly staff. 5* for summer pints out the back!

The husband and I popped into the Water Poet for lunch after a tour of the Dennis Severs' House. What a great find! Staff is super friendly, pints were well priced, and the meal was wonderful! I had the roast ribeye of beef served with plentiful trimmings - roasted potatoes, parsnips, cabbage, carrots, red onions, Yorkshire pud and gravy. He... More

I got invited for leaving drinks there. They have a massive openspace "beergarden" in the backyard which is excellent in the summer to have a drink and a smoke. Further plus is they do sell meantime beer. Already went there again to show the place to my friends..

Great Atmosphere, Great beer, Great food, Great Staff, Great price. Can't say fairer than that. Far enough away from the Spitalfield market gravity well that sucks in the passing tourist trade but close enough to be convenient. Huge Sunday roast with all the trimmings. Beef was excellent and the veg and bits were very tasty. I would thoroughly recommend to... More
