Description: La Porte des Indes is Indian cuisine on a grand scale, from the nine-metre waterfall cascading through the restaurant to the eight chefs in the kitchen. The food is just as spectacular, borrowing flavours from the former French colonies to add to its array of traditional dishes. Its central London location should mean you can spare some time for a visit to the Jungle Bar, where patrons are encouraged to throw peanut shells on the floor. Private dining rooms.

If you want a conveniently located Indian restaurant near Oxford street, this is the one for you, the staff and service were great, but the food was the downfall. It wasn't outright bad, but neither was it special to be able to charge those prices, but I suppose you are paying for the location and service. As the chef has... More

Delicious Indian food with a French accent, with some lovley game dishes the highlight. Absolutely stunning decor in a massive space.

Celebrated a family birthday here on a Saturday night. We were first seated next to a family with two toddlers. The staff saw we were not too happy so they moved us upstairs into the main seating area which was much better. The decor is exotic and nicely done. The staff were friendly and efficient. The food looked great but... More

Went for lunch last Sunday with friends and our children, from the moment we walked in the staff were really friendly and very professional. They opened the side doors for us as we had pushchairs and took us immediately to our table which could not have been situated better in the restaurant. The Staff were very helpful, service was better... More

The Staff and food were excellent. Started the evening with a bottle of Louis Roederer. The best Indian ever. Tandoori lobster was lovely. A must to finish the evening off is an Irish coffee. A real showman piece setting the glass alight! Fabulous, can't wait to go back.

This looks like a little family restaurant form the outside, but when you go in and are taken to the seating area, you find that it is very large, and with two floors. Because of the size, it lacked the intimacy that my wife and I like. But, it is the fanciest Indian restaurant that I have been to in... More

We ate here with no prior knowledge of the restaurant, having just arrived in London and walking in off the street. The service was fine but the food was very average Indian fare. The "chefs speciality" of fish in banana leaves was a disappointment. Two small pieces of white fish with some spice for £10 is pretty expensive. The main... More

I took my partner here for his 40th Birthday after seeing the restaurant featured on MasterChef 2012, the food and atmosphere were outstanding, our waiter was very knowledgable about the food and recommended dishes off the menu, Will definately be going back and have already recommended it.

Like a tardis. small from the outside, big on the inside. The plastic palms Eight of us went without booking. the waiters got a table ready for us quickly. Service was prompt but by no means polished Food was about average though it was nice to see various cuts of chicken in curry rather than just the bland chicken breast.... More

We went here with our kids, the food was excellent and the service was helpful and attentive without being excessive. We asked the waiter for his recommendations and he provided options that everyone loved. The decor is a little dated but all of the other positive aspects definitely outweigh that.
