Description: Originally a small oyster bar, J Sheekey preserves an unstuffy and intimate air which has made it a West End favourite for over 100 years. Cosy up in a dark corner in one of this fish restaurant's wood-panelled interconnecting rooms and try not to gawp at the high-profile clientele. The seafood is fresh and delivered with flair, and there's an imaginative vegetarian menu, plus a few meat dishes for non-fish lovers. An unrivalled destination for London theatre-goers. J Sheekey's illustrious 100-year heritage is enhanced by the Oyster Bar just next door, an informal extension of this great London institution. Set around a horseshoe-shaped central dining bar, its wood-panelled walls are lined with photographs of 21st-century theatrical luminaries from John Hurt to Orlando Bloom. The finest seafood includes fresh oysters from West Mersea Island, Cornwall, Northern Ireland and south-west France, along with Shetland mussels and Dublin Bay prawns or caviar and crab. These are enjoyed with an excellent list of Champagnes and sparkling wines by a theatrical and foodie clientele. All fish is responsibly caught from sustainable sources.

What is there to say about J Sheekey, one of London’s finest fish restaurants, that hasn’t been said before? Yes, it’s elegant; yes, its food is superb; yes, its white wines are perfectly chilled; yes, its waiters are knowledgeable and impeccably mannered; yes, it has bags of atmosphere, caused not least by the dozens of signed photographs of its many... We visited on a Monday evening for a pre-Theatre dinner and we would not hesitate to return. Food and service was first class. Our starters were Asparagus and the other Razor Clams. We both had Haddock as a main, one Smoked the other Fried and they were cooked to perfection. Sweets followd and my wife was very taken by the... More

J. Sheeky is one of the best oyster bars in London. The atmosphere is convivial and the staff courteous and attentive. Get a seat at the bar and enjoy watching them shuck the oysters. Food is good and for London, the price is acceptable. Its one of the places I like to stop in for lunch: oysters and a glass... More

Placed at table between reception desk and door to back kitchen by front of Restaraunt. Told no other tables available with even a wait. Felt brushed off, no effort to make it up to us (free drink would have been a good touch). This was on a Monday night!!

This was our first visit to J Sheekey, recommended to us by a friend. We went to the Oyster Bar and sat outside given the good weather. The service was excellent, what I would describe 'old school' from the guy with the bowler hat on the door to the waiter who noticed there was a slight wobble on our table... More

This is a wonderful restaurant in a great central location close to Trafalgar Square. The Fish Pie is deservedly famous, and while the cooking is not especially adventurous, it is of a very high quality, and the excellent fish is rightly left to speak for itself. A fine lunctime location.

Had heard Sheekey's was very good. We went to the 3 year old Sheekey's wine bar so cannot comment on the main restaurant. In short at a post-theatre Saturday night dinner for 4: - food (apart from a very acidic and congealed sort of bearnaise sauce with asparagus) quite good but the waiter missed one of the main courses so... Super fresh seafood. The space is cramped though. We had 6 people. Way too small table for 6 men but they wouldn't seat us elsewhere. Smoked haddock was very good. Sardines just ok. For the price, I wouldn't necessarily go back.
