Description: Set in leafy Wandsworth Chez Bruce has rave reviews from critics and locals alike. Looking from the outside like a Parisian brassiere its set menu, £40 for 3 courses, is inspired by classic and regional French cuisine with a whiff of Spain and Italy. Seasonal Starters could include Warm Summer Vegetables with a Poached Duck Egg and Truffle Dressing or Quail Pithiviers with a Salade Paysanne. Mains are refreshingly different - Saddle of Rabbit with Creamed Girolles or Baked Goats Cheese with Caponata for the veggies. Desserts reflect the time of year such as Peach Sorbet with Peach and Ginger Compote. As you sit in its simply furnished dining room peruse its dazzling 43 page wine list ranges from European classics to rarer finds from around the globe including Canada.

Service relaxed and effcicient. Staff friendly and knowledgeable. Great to see a lady sommelier too. She knows her stuff and helped us choose 2 lovely wines. Atmosphere perfect for us - too many good restaurants, particularly in London, are a bit too snobby (or 'up themselves' as my teenage kids would say!) and make you feel like they're doing you... The food was brilliant, the service immaculate, the wines were excellent and the prices fair. No wonder Chez Bruce came out as "Favourite Restaurant" in a survey conducted by Harden. I had a wonderful starter of Italian ham, asparagus and duck's egg. My main was a tagine of lamb - simply delicious and then, probably rather boringly, I finished with... More

High expecations were dashed and while nothing was bad, nothing was a stand out or memorable. Sommelier was good, as was the stuffed piquillo pepper entre and lamb main. And value was good at 3 courses for £45 plus the atmosphere beats a lot of more expensive restaurants. Just had higher expectations.

Chez Bruce is by far the best all around restaurant in London. Pass on all of the hype and go here for the food and the perfect service. It is not in central London but in leafy Clapham. It takes more than the usual effort to come but it is well worth the trip. We have been many times and... More

The food, the service, the atmosphere ( tables just lined up no quality feel ) on both occasions just very bland. Dont go here and expect 1 star Michelin Star food - you'll be disappointed! The fact this for some reason is rated the 9th best restaurant in London by Tripadvisor.. I think it must be a mistake. Ridiculous. There... More

Dining at Chez Bruce is a truly memorable experience and being around the corner from my house makes it very tempting!!! Altough for abvoous reasons this place is not cheap, it's well worth every penny you spend in here. I went for a surprise birthday party for a friend of mine and since I walked in I felt very pampered... More

This restaurant is fabulous. The food is first class, top quality and beautifully presented. Staff were very attentive. Foie-gras was to die for... One of the best restaurants in London. A great experience.

Splendid lunch menu. Great service and remarkable value. If I'm being picky, it wasn't the fastest, but that didn't bother us on this occasion. Knowledgeable sommelier and very approachable and flexible waiting staff. I loved the fact that I was offered tap water rather than being pushed into anything else. We responded in kind by choosing both a glass of... More

Had dinner here bank holiday Monday. Across the table a variety of starters but I stayed with my tried, tested and well loved foie gras pate with toasted brioche. Accompanied by a decent Riesling, it was superb. Mains were halibut, duck magret and cote de boeuf, all exceptionally well cooked. The beef was tender and juicy while the chips were... More

Treated my son and his girlfriend to the £45 a head menu. Very nice ambiance, immaculate waiters, hushed tones and business like approach. Loved the selection of breads/parmesan biscuits that accompanied the meal. Sommelier I am sure was knowledgeable but we knew what we wanted. I had veal as first course which was delicious followed by scallops. Vegetarian pea tortellini went... More
