Having went to the restaurant last night (Wednesday 30th May), I felt it appropriate that I review and put into writing my experiences. The outset is not unlike a new age glass office style building but gives away its intent on closer inspection. Upon entering it was clear the restaurant was busy and the reputation of the head chef had... More

On paper, Jamie's Italian sounds great - the concept of fresh, simple, tasty italian food with a slightly modern edge, shouldn't be too difficult... yet in practice, its a different story. I have tried many branches of these ever expanding chain restaurants but the Angel building one in Islington is the worst (best being Bath). The booking staff here are... More

It was my daughter's birthday and we were staying at the Thistle hotel Barbican, not far from Angel and we found Jamies Italian, the food was great, my daughter loved to see the pictures of the food choices for children via the 1970 view finder Jamie obviously had one when he was a child just like me....... food fantastic, specials... Place is nice and airy - yes noisy but I see that as part of the 'vibrant' concept. Unfortunately though food was quite basic. Totally unexciting starters (or better, very exciting on the menu and much less on the plate) and the 'happy chicken' I ordered wasn't that happy at all - of very low quality, to the extent that... This is one of the worse restaurants I have been to. When we arrived, there were several empty tables but we were told we had to wait for 20 mins at the bar that had some very average drinks. We eventually waited for over 30 mins. There were still several empty tables, yet people waiting at the bar - a... More

I have always thought Jamie and other chefs are expensive. Here comes a mass-friendly version of celebrity chef cuisine. Was quite surprised when I saw the prices on the menu, you can definitely tuck your stomach full for around 10- 15 pounds, which is very OK in London standard. Love the selection of pasta. Love the atmosphere (chill and easy).... More

I have now been here several times, and it is very good value. The food is basic but tasty and the place has a good vibe. However, I have tried several times to call and make or change a booking and NEVER ONCE has someone answered the phone. What is going on? There needs to be a way to contact... More

It's Jamie-inspired, it does pretty good very tasty Italian food, and its just about reasonably priced for what it is. My wife and I took our 19 year old daughter for a birthday treat - her choice. We had very friendly service and all enjoyed our various choices. My only gripes would be that the special, 24 hour braised lamb,... More

I quite like this big, bustling restaurant. What I don't like is very slow service and having to wait for over half an hour to place our order. Having said that, whatever the waiting staff are paid, it's probably not enough because they're on the go all the time. We had the bruschetta of the day, with pea puree, anchovies... More

Incredibly poor service from rude and (one imagines) badly trained staff. We had a dinner reservation for 5 people at 8pm. It took a good 20 minutes to catch the attention of the waitress to take both our starter and main order. We then waited for over AN HOUR for the main - in fact, only after two of us... More
